Labels on Maps via customisable POIs

You only want to read this if you are really frustrated by the lack of map labels, you appreciate the difference between POI and Waypoint, and you are in the mood for some thinking.
At Jan 2026, the Topo maps do not include any labels. We can enhance the map using POIs, each predefined POI-type (e.g. Meadow, Fishing Spot) being identified by a specific icon (there are about 60 types). But those icons are not unique on the map - there can be any number of ‘Campsite’ icons shown on a map page - and labels need to be unique.
Suppose those predefined POI-types were extended with a set of custom-usage POI-types with letters (A-Z) as icons. We could then (mentally) allocate our own LABELS to each LETTER. In fact, there is already letter-icon 'P, allocated to ‘Parking’.
If visiting a town, different places we have in mind to visit could each be allocated a letter (A-Railway Museum, B-‘BestEatery’ restaurant, …). Or street names. Or town names. Or geographical features. We could allocate whatever label we wanted to each unique alphabetic-icon. And change that allocation on every outing. Our map then shows the Topo information and some unique letter-icons. Each of the letter-icons means something, but only to us. Without a good memory, we would need to keep a note of what label we allocated to what letter.
The ‘allocation’ of a LABEL to a LETTER is only notional, in our own heads, there is no editing in the App - the letter-icon ‘F’ would perhaps be named by Suunto as Letter-F and need not ever be changed. But on our list, ‘F’ means a particular feature, it is our personal label for it.
Please can we have a set of letter-icons for user-defined POIs.
