Suunto 2.50.28 hot-fix Q4
-
@Milan-Šádek I don’t know which watch you have but if it’s a Race S (9 days with HR, without GPS => 11%/day) or Race 1 (13 days with HR, without GPS ==> 7-8%/day) then I think you are getting what you should expect (assuming you are NOT using AOD which reduces battery life further). No?
With my Vertical 2, latest firmware (2.50.28), I am getting 14 days with 25 hours of GPS (running, cycling) which is exactly what the V2 spec implies (21 days with HR, without GPS => 5%/day and 65 hours of best GPS => 1.5%/hour extra for GPS).
I don’t use external BT connectivity except for the Android App (on Android 16). You may get worse drain if you use external HR belts etc. -
I don’t know were you live but suunto repaired mine without any issue (race s - 1y1/2 old). In FR we have a 2y waranty.
-
@gkaempfer as mentioned earlier, I have Vertical 1 Ti Solar with Polar H10. So no AMOLED display.
-
@Milan-Šádek Have you turned off the BT discovery? I feel like that helped me a little bit.
-
Random Suunto bug hit my Race S yesterday. Put the Watch on the charger, dismissed some notifications and reseated it to get the charging screen. A couple of seconds later the Suunto logo greated me as the watch rebooted itself… Reliablity, man…

Is anyone else seeing this jump after the latest update?
I have the Vertical 1 Ti solar as well and paired with a Polar H9 but I don’t see this kind of battery drain. I see around 3% per day (no 24/7 HR and sleep)
-
@surfboomerang good hint, thanks. I will turn it off before charging to have a better idea about its real effect on the discharge.

Similar proportional jump on my SV1 after 2.50.26.

@Benjamin-0 Hi Benjamin. Im in the uk, which i think is only a 1 year battery warranty. My issue is that the watch has failed and is not fit for purpose. If suunto don’t respond then i’m considering taking them to court under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
They have already offered my a 30% reduction on a replacement watch, but why should spend hundreds of pounds to get the same watch thats failed me!?
-
@Geoffwilli have you tried a hard reset in case you for some reason have ended up in a situation where the watch can’t enter power saving states?
I know it is no fun to do a hard reset but maybe worth trying instead of throwing the watch in the bin.
-
@Geoffwilli I can understand since I’ve had the same issue twice, probably there is a design issue on the battery. I don’t know if I will have battery drain again but now this is repaired and with the new HR algorithm (previous was failling measurement all the time during activites on me) I’m quite happy with my watch.

@Mads-Hintz-Madsen Hi, yes i’ve tried all of the practical suggestions to help ‘regain’ the battery how it was. Nothin has worked unfortunately. This is the first time i’ve had an issue with a suunto watch, previously had a suunto trainer, and then suunto 9 Baro. I’m awaiting to hear back from suunto to see if they can fix the watch, as you say you don’t want to just put it in the bin!
