I read in earlier posts that turn by turn guidance is not possible on imported gpx files.
      Is that still true?
I have a 60k ultra marathon coming up in two months and would really have use for that feature. It’s on trails so trying to recreate it in Suunto app is not an option.

@Chewtube said in GPX Turn by turn?:

so trying to recreate it in Suunto app is not an option.

Why is it not an option?

As discussed here previously: getting high-quality TbT through recalculation a GPX is easier said than done.

@Chewtube It works with routes imported from Komoot.

The way suunto sees it right now is that you use komoot.

Connect your suunto account to komoot (or the other way around)

Import the gpx file in komoot as a to follow route (make sure to import it as-is and not adjust it to known paths)

It will automatically appear in the suunto app. From there you can synchronize it to your watch.

Drawback: komoot is not free. You get 1 area for free, but whole world maps is a 1 time payment. You don’t need the new komoot monthly subscription!

The quality of the tbt notifications generated by komoot is quite good.

@Squirrel Because the race is partly on small trails through forests and fields. Trails too small to be on the map. I dont want to risk drawing the track wrong and thereby getting wrong instructions from the watch in a late stage of the race when my brain has shut down. 😄

@maszop Thanks! I guess I’ll take a look at komoot. I understand it sometimes recreates the route after it’s own liking? Sounds like a way to get disqualified at a race.

@elbee Thanks! I’ll take a look at Komoot even if I think it sounds a bit more complicated than necessary.
I didn’t use the tbt feature much om my Garmin Fenix from 2021, but as I remember it it was like downoad the file, sync the watch, start running…
