Scare in Paris: SAFE MODE stuck in a LOOP!

My wife and I traveled to Paris this weekend to run the Hoka Half Marathon (which pleasantly surprised me, by the way). We spent several days there, running, walking, and so on. Everything was perfect.
But the night before the race, a scare came! As usual, I plugged in my watch to charge so I wouldn’t have any battery problems. After a while, I realized that the Race S was trying to enter safe mode over and over again, in a loop. I finally managed to “revive” it, I don’t even know how. In the process, I lost some of my custom sport modes and maps. Damn.
So, I tried to recover my custom sport modes (especially running) and, since I had lost the Paris map and wanted to have it for after the race, I plugged the watch back into the charger (in a different outlet), and the same thing happened again: SAFE MODE STUCK IN A LOOP! Shit, shit, shit…
Anyway, after two hours of struggling and cursing myself, the watch came back to life, and that was it, I gave up on it.
Today, back home, plugged into the charger in my house outlet, everything was normal. So, based on what I’ve read, I guess the problem was with the hotel outlets.
???P.S.: In the end, it was just a scare, and race day went smoothly, but now I’m worried about it for when I travel again.
