This morning I put my watch on charge and the software suddenly crashed. It is now stuck in a bootloop. The watch says “The device is being restored to a safe state.” and the progress bar is infinitely looping. I have let the watch sit for a couple of minutes on charge.

Eventually the watch showed “Improving your watch for adventure. This will take less than 10mins.” It will boot with the Suunto logo, but was still stuck in a bootloop showing: “This is taking longer than expected. Thank you for being patient.” before it starts crashing a couple of times and goes back to being stuck on “The device is being restored to a safe state.” .

If I force restart the watch by long pressing the top button for ~12 seconds, the watch reboots but still fails to the same bootloop.

My Race S was on SW version 2.50.28.

Please help me… I would hate to throw away such an expensive piece of equipment for failing for no reason…

@Bastienhere What power source is the charging cable connected to? If possible, connect the watch to basic old 5V/1A power supply and let it sit on that.

@Bastienhere Just checking, because there were reports of similar issues in hotel rooms.

@Bastienhere Maybe random, maybe not. Nobody provided enough compelling details about the power output of the USB port when they encountered this.
