Charging of battery
-
Hello,
I cannot charge my Suunto Vertical at all; I connect the cable, but the screen stays off. No charging icon appears. Any help?
-
@Danny can you try perhaps multiple USB ports or outlets to rule out a defective charger?
-
Thanks for your answer. I tried, different ports and even different PC. No results.
-
@Danny If you have a multimeter, you could measure the voltage between the two contacts – around 5V DC – to check if the cable is ok
-
@Danny also try powering down the watch completely. On one occasion about 2 years ago, it fixed the issue for me.

I had a similar problem with my daughter’s Huawei Band. The battery was next to empty, but refused to start charging. One internet trick was to put the device in the freezer for 30 mins. That shock treatment did something and it miraculously started charging again.

Just be careful and do not charge while the battery temperature is below 0°C (32°F).
From https://www.batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-410-charging-at-high-and-low-temperatures/
Many battery users are unaware that consumer-grade lithium-ion batteries cannot be charged below 0°C (32°F). Although the pack appears to be charging normally, plating of metallic lithium occurs on the anode during a sub-freezing charge that leads to a permanent degradation in performance and safety.

@Squirrel good point, as from the specs:
Recommended charging temperature 0° C to +45° C / +32° F to +113° F -
Something different, but it fits the thread title:
Can I charge the watch during an acivity? It is a Race 2.
I will be doing a 24h Road bike ride at the end of June and just want to know if I have this opportunity or not.Thank you.

Yes, this is possible. From the specs the watch should last 55h with highest accuracy. 24h should be no issue when you start with a full battery.

Thank you.
