      @Richard-Thygesen I also don’t understand this…
Plus you never know what changes an update will bring and if it actually banefits your individual use case

@Richard-Thygesen in my personal case, I am not hoping for new features, only to receive fixes of the regressions introduced with the most recent firmwares (BT disconnections, map details missing at 500m and black grids)

@Richard-Thygesen so, your watches are bug free?

@Alejandro-Pérez-Beneyto is it so critical to get updates that you change brand if you don’t get them?
Why is people buying watches based on what they can be and not what they are?

            2 things:

These are watches with updatable firmwares. That’s what they are.

And I reported quite some bugs I really want a fix for. Or is it too much to ask that bugs can be solved?

@2b2bff yes, for my use case it actually seems to be.
But I only use it for running, cycling strength training and the occasional downhill skiing and hiking.

@elbee I also like updates but I don’t expect them. I think there is a larger question in this and that is that the customers demand more and more functions that seem to introduce more and more bugs and Suunto is not the only brand with this problem . I think we will have to live with bugs as long as we demand more and more complicated functions.

@Richard-Thygesen there is always part of people that will change to different brand due to slightest inconvenience. Other part has fomo and are afraid to not get new features from other brands. A lot of users of sportswatches are just datanerds that wants new and shiny all the time. Another part of users just want theit bugs fixed, but bugs are not getting fixed since brands are cooking new functions instead, unless the bug is critical enough. A sports-watch sector is kind of becoming techbro’s sector with occasional usage for sports.
With every update I am a bit afraid that they gonna f-up something I use, so I am definitely not waiting for updates, unless it is smth like ZoneSense where it is just super interesting. 🙂

I don’t expect new features but I do expect the features that exist to work properly.

And I’m the first to react in the features request topics why feature requests might be not very well thought out. Consequences of adding extra complexity is one of the arguments.

I think the features request topics are more the place where you should make your point.

Why Suunto developers couldn’t release a firmware update for so long is a complete other story. Being a software developer myself, I know this isn’t a good sign. (Could be anything, incapable developers, out of control complexity of the software, lack of funding. All equally bad for getting bugs fixed)

IMHO this is more of a Suunto App feature than a watch feature…

I’d rather have a bugfix release without any new features and another release later with newer features. But sadly this is not the way Suunto does it…

@2b2bff It can be developed on both sides.

I think hammerhead developed very nice solution where you can use Third Party Sync and you also have the option to manually update your Training metrics.
I am syncing my Power and HR zones from intervals.icu.

(first series Race user here, no compains about battery TBH)

What about Race S and battery life on the latest firmware?
My girlfriend’s watch is perfect for her, except for this annoying “bug”…

It depends. Most of the time, with my activities, I have to charge every 4 days or so. Which is poor, but to be expected of a watch with oled. It’s slightly better than my previous forerunner 965. During activities 5% battery usage per hour is typical. Use a external heartrate sensor and a stryd.

Settings: gnns default, aod off. Raise to wake (not the full watch version). No blood saturation. Sleeptracking off. Notifications on.

And then, all out of a sudden it uses 15% battery or get max 13 hours during activities.

But it’s not my biggest and annoying bug in the firmware.
