GPS tracking... seems to stop above 1.5m

I did a science transect dive (a line) in the shallows… 2,5m to 0,5m over 300m distance.

The Nautic counts diving under 1,5m, only… same for the GPS-tracking.

Result… the Json from Suunto App included a 300m/40min dive from A to B (correct).
But, the GPS was logging at the starting point and the first 10m out of the 300m, only.

It will be smart if the compute continues to do GPS-tracking above 1,5m!

The computer can actual get a real GPS-fix when it is in the shallows above 1,5m - but it don’t!

Several users have described that a Nautic dive track with the same start/end point location does not match the reality… they can be highly separated, even that it has a build in GPS-receiver!
(It seems to use the accelerator meters, only)

I think that this error is due to the reason describe above…

So, the computer should benefit from the real GPS-Signal from the sky as soon it gets above 1,5m … and not ignore it!

It should actually track as long as it is wet, is below 0 m or the user select “end dive” (as an option).

I think that this will improve the GPS functionality highly.

@Niels-Søren-Bøgh Hi, how do you know the watch gets a GPS signal underwater? This would be really great, but in my experience already swimming is a problem, and there its just an armlenght under water. I thought the Nautic only uses the acceleratometer underwater

When you are in the shallows it can get a fix.
An you will know because the gps-chips tells you that it has a fix and the age of the last fix.
Then you just place a true/false indicator icon on the screen…
My old Suunto 9 Baro does a grate job here…
