Ascent descent off by far
-
I just completed a 21k trail race, the stats show an ascent and descent of roughly 600m, which also shows on suunto app when I saved the route, as well as other reliable apps that show the same numbers.
What I got on my watch is a 200m ascent/descent.
I have never experienced such differences on my V2 and can’t imagine what caused the difference.
The run was on open desert terrain on a clear night with beautiful weather and the watch was synced about 12 hours prior the race, at a different location 250km from the race location (don’t think it’s related because I never sync before a race)
The only thing I can think of is that the sensor got clogged by dust although it seems to be clean to me.
What other possibilities could have caused such a difference ?
I want to be prepared for coming races so this won’t occur again. -
@peegee yes, clean sensor first

@Egika lower ascent / descent dont match a dirty sensor. I am more inclined to say that the 600m was too much from the competition records. What does strava say ?

@egika Try calibrating before the race. Barometer/altimeter. I turn on barometer calibration every time before the race. I live in a high-rise building and I always have a difference, but not that big.

I am not the one affected.
And during a 21km race there is enough time for FusedAlti to correct any offset in altitude.
As I understand in this case not the absolute altitude is a problem, but more the ascent and decent during the activity… -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos strava data is similar to watch.

@peegee so no issue then?
