Re-listening to @joaquin review, if Im not mistaken he mentions the battery a couple of times. In the opening section, which covers technical specifications, he says: “tendrá una batería de silicio que aumenta en un 29% la capacidad de Sunto Run tanto en uso diario como en actividad”.

Later on, when discussing battery life in greater detail, he says: “batería una nueva batería de silicio que nos va a otorgar más de un 29% de batería en uso diario más de un 20% de batería en actividad”.

I haven’t found any other references to it being a silicon-carbon battery, So?

      Thanks!

@snow The Race 3S is Lithium-Ion according to the Suunto website.

@Steven-Hambleton afaik that should be silicon carbon and I would be surprised if that were also the case in Run 2.

Prior to release today, there was a spanish website with the Race3S where also a silicone-carbon battery was mentioned.

@Steven-Hambleton a silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery is a type of lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery. The main difference lies in the use of an anode containing silicon and carbon instead of a traditional graphite anode. Therefore, it should generally be classified as a lithium-ion battery 🙂

No, carbon improves storage capacity substantially. That has been known for a while. But carbon expands a lot during charging. The problem has been to limit the expansion.

@jthomi No, they offer higher energy density and, consequently, greater capacity while maintaining similar dimensions and weight

Sounds more like you’re describing Silicone properties 🤔

I see this on the product website:

But anyway, I am looking not at the tech, but at the numbers. What we see here is 38h in multiband GNSS and 45h in singel band.
