Broken Stand-up Reminder
-
The Stand-up reminder fails to notify me even after I have sat for more than two hours. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
-
@greenfish29 I have Race 2 and it doesn’t work for me either. I have never seen this alarm go off, even though sitting way more than 2 hours. It’s just one of the unresolved bugs in V2 and R2.
-
Technically it works on my race s. I do get notifications after 2 hours. But strictly speaking it doesn’t detect you not standing up. It detects absence of arm movements. Do you sit still but move your arm frequently?
From a health point of view it doesn’t work at all. A notification after 2 hours is way, way too long. It should be at least every hour. And you cannot look back how you have done throughout the day.
On my previous garmin the stand-up reminder was implemented poorly, but on my suunto it’s even worse.

@elbee I also own V1 where stand-up remainder works flawlessly. It’s a bug the same as the resources widget which continues to rise during the day after the finished exercise. In V1 steadily trickes down from 99% to end in lower numbers by the end of the day. This is never the case in R2.

Working well for all my Suuntos where I have enabled this.
It ususally comes on during longer drives.
As others have pointed out: It can only detect watch movement. If you move your arms too much while sitting, it will assume you are not sitting

@elbee I agree. I move my arms, naturally (I am not a statue
). It is unfortunate that improving this feature to be more friendly and customizable should not be difficult or time-consuming. One reason I left Garmin was their poor bug report feedback, so I am curious whether Suunto developers read this forum at all. I found no other way to report bugs anyway. -
@greenfish29 yes, Suunto is monitoring this forum.
Just a wild guess: the stand-up reminder is not THE feature to generate sales. It is just there.
So improving this function probably is very low on the priority list.
It is a threshold attribute according to the Kano Model´. Improving it does not raise customer satisfaction a lot. It just needs to be there.
Like step count etc.

Yeh, garmin support isn’t… helpful, to say it politely.
But I’m afraid my experiences with suunto support isn’t any better. Half of the time I get AI generated fluff. My race s has a serious Bluetooth problem (and some other models too) for almost a year now. Al suunto support say they have forwarded my request to the correct department and promised to keep me up to date. So far, zero updates. Either suunto support couldn’t bother or the Suunto developers couldn’t bother.
