I had the same issue in the first time wearing a 9PP. The only thing I did to find something that actually works for sleep detection was to lower the min HR parameter. I did that to a point that watching TV in the evening does not trigger sleep phase anymore.
The only side effect of this fine tuning was that nap is no more detected.
I am not sure if it is the right thing to do and I did not deepdive this too much but it works for me with a 9PP

You need to set your usual bedtime and minimum heart rate so the watch can detect when you’re asleep. Mine is pretty accurate. It even picks up naps and notices when I fall asleep in front of the TV in the evening.

@runomatic I had that before also, but not sure what fixed it (maybe me playing around and setting lower “Rest HR” in settings.) But I do not have that anymore, it is pretty accurate on sleep time right now.

@Manuel-Extreme The new watches no longer allow a usual bedtime setting; you can only configure automatic do-not-disturb timing. I applied this and have had no trouble. When I compare the data with Oura, the timing aligns within minutes. The only drawback is that sleep phases are not tracked well, though that matters little to me.

@greenfish29 yea sleep phases cannot be tracked with watches, that is a fact. It is all algorithmic guesstimates regardless the brand.

Thank you all for your inputs. I’ll have a go at lowering my minimal HR in the settings. That might actually be a good idea.

change your sleep times . If you watch tv ie till 12pm some days and some others sleep at 10pm then put the sleep time 11pm or so . Experiment with that

My bedtimes are spot on. I almost always go to bed at 10.00 pm, and that’s how it’s set. So that can’t be the reason.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos That matches what the watch (at the top of the picture) shows. Around 6.30 pm.

@runomatic funny how this never happened to me, until yesterday! But not as bad, I was watching Netflix in bed and it interpreted it as me sleeping, but awake, so sleep time is normal at the end.

Worst for me is that there are still naps happening in the same time frame as sleep is detected. If you could go in and delete naps or adjust your sleep time (begin and end) like you can with Garmin and Coros, you could at least work around aggressive sleep detection.
