I misplaced my Suunto 9 Peak Pro, so I built a small iPhone finder
-
Hi everyone — I started Nearby Finder after struggling to find my own Suunto 9 Peak Pro, and thought it might help others with the same problem.
It uses Bluetooth signal trends to narrow down a nearby search. On my watch, notification forwarding can also trigger audible alerts to help find the final hiding spot.
With location permission, it automatically saves a phone-location reference around the last valid Bluetooth signal while searching. This is the phone’s location, not the watch’s GPS or a record of every system pairing.
It’s free and open source. My 9 Peak Pro is the only watch I’ve personally tested; other models are unverified. No accurate metres, directional arrows, or tracking when the watch is powered off or out of range.
Source, installation, compatibility and a 26-second edited demo:
https://github.com/YUxiaoLLL/nearby-finderCurrently a development preview requiring a Mac and Xcode to install; no public TestFlight or App Store release yet. I’m the creator and am not affiliated with Suunto.
Has anyone else had the “it’s nearby, but where?” problem? Feedback and model-specific test results are welcome.
