    With older Suunto watches you used to be able to adjust altitude whilst in a move. Please bring this ability to the Suunto 9! Those of us that spend a long time in the mountains and dynamic weather are frustrated by the inability to reference the altimeter at known heights, whilst in a move. GPS altitude and FusedAlti often isn’t accurate enough.

        @MickT FusedAlti takes care of this automatically as you know and my experience is that it is quite accurate. I do a lot of SkiMo in the winter and running in the summer at ≥4000m peaks. Very rarely is the S9 Baro off by much more than 5 meters on a summit. It may be that FusedAlti is not activating, you can check this using the Quantified Self app that Dimitrios wrote.

          @Brad_Olwin Hi Brad - I’m guessing your SkiMo is in the Alps, where generally the weather conditions are fairly static, i.e. pressure changes are relatively slow. I too have spent a fair bit of time bagging 4000m peaks and under those conditions the watch is pretty good. However the watch struggles in dynamic weather conditions where pressure is changing relatively quick and that is what we normally get in the Highlands of Scotland. For instance today on a Nordic walk I set my watch to the altitude of my start point (50m) and then started the Move. 4km later on the summit of a wee hill (72m) the watch was reading 89m. I hung around on the top for 10 minutes to see if the watch would correct to the right altitude. It didn’t and it cannot be corrected to a known altitude. I regularly see large errors. With the Ambit series, during a Move altitude could be referenced to known heights, as can Suunto competitors.

            @MickT
            Alps, fairly static weather conditions?
            I’m not so sure…

            We use to say: if you don’t like swiss weather, wait five minutes…

              Few months ago I vent to a hiking and started the exercise. After the exercise the data showed altitude which is higher by about 170m - both min and max, entire range. Obviously it didn’t update the reference altitude on the fly. Since than I always turn on Auto adjust reference altitude few minutes before starting the exercise.

                @MickT My SkiMo is in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, where the weather changes very quickly. I did a 13h SkiMo trip yesterday with ~2100m gain. The S9 Baro was spot on for Altitude…AND I had two storm alerts signifying major drops in Barometric pressure.
                Below I have pasted two screenshots, one for the max altitude of the mountain we summited and the second for “altitude correction” by TrainingPeaks. As you can see, the S9 was accurate!

                  Same for me when doing Ultra Trails and Ski Touring: I need the ability to adjust my watch when reaching a point with a well known altitude to have a secure base for the upcoming navigation .
                  This is security relevant!

                    @MaxiPalle As I showed in the post below, I do not need to manually adjust my altitude.

                      I up this post because I too often face the issue of FusedAlti that doesn’t work, and this option will save us going on a move without being able to correct altitude.

                      This week-end I did hike with so many altitude panels on my path, altitude on my SSU was always off and no way to calibrate during move.
                      Thanks to quantified, here is a comparison of GPS altitude vs Altitude recorded by the watch.

                      No fusedalti and always 55/60m offset.

                      If some specialist can help, eventually here are SNR data recorded. enough good to expect fusedalti to work ?
