      @jsuarez why with the web unsatisfied? The product is sold without a web (and there are other watches sold like so)

      Because many of the buyers might be long time Suunto customers. You cannot just erase their memories of having used a web frontend some time ago. Or simply because users expect that (e.g. that price level could justify that expectation).

        I guess other watches mentioned above are Coros watches - that is the only major player I know that provides only mobile app interface.

        But guess what one of top new feature requests by Coros users? They demand web interface too!

                To be honest suunto community. I have a feeling their philosophy is just to released new features with new watches, instead invest in old ‘spartan’ line… and firmware. I think it’s not a clear statement of suunto regarding new features that community desire. Like stress level, VO2 estimation, sleeping phases and others that you can be found here.

                  You mean Spartan is an old line?
                  I supposed they had already considered suunto 9 as old line.

                  And Don’t forget the Spartan have got the s9 watchface as new feature .

                        @Brad_Olwin Hi Brad, are there any hardware limitations in the suunto9 that prevent the extra features found on the suunto 5 being implemented on the 9? Is there any chance of us seeing some of these features rolling over with a firmware update at any stage? Alot of the these features don’t to be new, just better and more in depth implementation of what is available on the 9.

                          I don’t think there are any hardware limitations. It is just a firmware implementation.

                            @GingerBeardMan no and never.
                            It has to so with a decision that suunto took back in the day of s9 launch.
                            Next year the new s9 will have them (I guess)

                                  Maybe S9 / Spartan will have higher analysis services thanks to the 3rd party studio partnership? and that the S5 is a lighter version for athletes less picky …🤔

                                    @GingerBeardMan Just so you know I am speculating here, I believe it is licensing but as I stated before, some of the Firstbeat features on the S5 and Training I would not want on my S9.

                                      @dulko79 There are three levels of fitness training options: Maintain, Improve and Boost. They are based on your fitness determined by age, HR, probably VO2 max and maybe R-R information as well as past training recorded. They are sport agnostic with intensity gauged by HR and will guide you through the workouts. There are no defined targets other than intensity and duration. The plans are not designed to train you for a 10k for example. But you run 3h per week and you wanted to improve your fitness to run a 10k in say 45 min. You could implement these plans to first boost your overall fitness and then start a 10k training plan offered by some other site. Alternatively, you could simply use the plans to boost your fitness and that would improve your 10k times or help prepare you for a 10k. I think the watch would be a good choice for you. Garmin offers specific plans I believe now, they have new ones. I do not know how well integrated those are into the watch and your activity. For example, if you go longer or skip a workout the S5 plans will adjust to you. There is also the option to simply set your own weekly duration.

                                        @suzzlo The Training Plans are really quite clever, as workouts are focused on intensity and time, which allows you to do them indoor or outdoor, on a bike, running, swimming, etc! The intensity is HR based but there is guidance during the workout to achieve the stated goal and intensity, to either speed up or slow down. At the end of the workout you get feedback on the goals. For an individual that likes working out, wants to stay in shape or improve fitness it is great! The super additions are you get the Nav features of Spartan/S9 and get estimated VO2 max, which will show up in SA too. I really like this watch and could use it for a lot of my exercises. I have used it extensively for running and ski mountaineering. The altitude is limited by GPS and not barometric but it does a good job with GPS altitude. In Navigation you can see the route and the altitude profile page as is present on the Spartan/S9. The watch is light and I think because of that OHR is better for me on S5 than the S9.
