@Armin-S pleas be more patient there was vacation period and suunto needs some extra months to smash major bugs
then Christmas will come and another vacation cycle and then spring vacations period
My wife already gave up on trainer and waiting what new Apple Watch going to offer. My feelings are as well in conflict with suunto, great hardware weak software, I don’t get from suunto what I need the most so it is just matter of time when I am going to give up… -
@SlaSh thanks , but I don’t like the irony about because especially in the app there was progress not any releases though. Due to testers vacation mostly but still you don’t get it or demand too much.
Its fine pal. Get another boat we dont really like threats or irony especially when we expose information like this.
And then you ask why there is no roadmap -
Ok so my thoughts on Suunto 3:
I have it for two days now, and it looks nice, its not too big not too small. The display is OK, the buttons are easy to navigate, the menu is easy so overall i would say its good watch, espesially for this price except the following things:
- step count is almost completely inaccurate (i gain like 100 steps while driving to work, what the…?)
- for second day in row it just freeze and I had to restart it
- the app is completely lacking any details about 24H acticity, such like stress, hr data, sleep analysis etcetera
- Today i woke with 500 steps (I guess I move a lot while sleeping), but I mean, why you counts steps while during the normal sleeping hours?
I like it but those things buzz me crazy, especially having in mind my 20$ fitness bracelet have better software, and this is why I most probably will give it a few more days chance before I return it.

@Svetlin-Tonchev Just a question. Does it count steps while driving with the FW of yesterday and does your other step counter count as well?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Excuse me for ignorance but FW is? For the rest my other step counter counted ~10 steps, my phone 0. And this is 3th time in a row (going to and back from work) and S3 always counts like ~100 steps for the trip.
-
@Svetlin-Tonchev FW => Firmware
-
@Svetlin-Tonchev please do any activity which requires GPS, this should calibrate accelerometer.
-
@Tim4c i bought it on 2nd and did FW upgrade, is there any newer?
-
The last is 2.4.14 or at least 2.4 something. Good morning typing on the road.
The last fw adds the first step of a context engine that understands what you are doing eg biking or driving or washing dishes or having the watch in a backpack.
Its the first step to this engine and I am interested in your results.

S3F seems to be targeted by Suunto not as a hardcore sportsman watch, but as the “all-arounder”. And I find it exactly like that. So it seems to be perfect for someone like me - not really into sports (not running nor swimming nor cycling intensively), just the amount to keep me fit. For that there are some useful training features (which I find useful) but also “all-arounder” features: resources, pulse, steps and sleep monitoring. They are supported by watch and Sunnto app with different level.
Resources –16 hours support on watch (which is fine), but none in application. There must be full history in application, so we can track it and draw conclusions. I hope Suunto works on that (it’s your innovation metric anyway). I know – only S3F has license for that feature – but app knows the connected watch, so it can display resources charts only when serving S3F.
Pulse – 12 hours support on watch (which is fine), but none in application. There is such a nice chart in watch and not a trace in app. Again, there must be full history in application, so we can track it and draw conclusions. As I understand, there are rumors that it’s coming
Steps – I’m not satisfied with support on watch – I mean, it works fine during walk/run exercise, but it seems to count too many movements that are not steps during a whole day. In the application we can only find total amount of steps, but I wish I could look into detailed distribution during the day (like every 15 minutes or so). Update: after upgrading to FW 2.4.14 it seems that the amount of steps decreased significantly and is closer to real number but I need more time to confirm (upgraded yesterday)
Sleep monitoring – I can see some problems on watch: sometimes it does not register wake-up for toilet visit. On the other hand sometimes if I stand up for a while and go back to sleep it probably notices it, but instead of going back to counting sleep, it marks it as ended/final wake up. In the application we can only find total amount of sleep , but I wish I could look into detailed distribution during the night (when deep sleep, when light sleep, when awake during night).
Thank for keeping up a good work in communication on that forum.

@solid_dd I don’t know about that since S9 is not focused on people who want step accuracy in a way that it affects their fitness.

does the engine come to S9 as well?
I can agree with @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos , I wish the S9 did not count steps…screens and resources I don’t use or need, Except when I have one run with ~200,000 steps…that was a kind of fun statistic!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos so option on/off is easy to put. Who wants use it, who don’t just put off. Simple. No discussion. All happy!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos but why not put a SF3 features on S9 also? They could be useful sometimes
they cannot hurt anyways
My wife has SF3 it has Fitness level, resources, sleep quality. It would be cool to see that stuff on S9.

@Dušan-Ković So if you think so, go away friend. Ask for that in Suunto support. Don’t give up. Suunto prefers commercial product segmentation. It’s fair. But don’t give up. We just want to put Suunto products near of God!

So after one day of observation: I woke up with 35 steps, which I’m pretty sure didn’t take during night
But still there is a progress, because before upgrade there were like 150-200 steps… In terms of overall day count - there is like even 40% less steps. Which in my opinion is good, closer to real amount. So the context engine seems to do the job

Market Segmentation Probably

The latest update is in my opinion a huge step in the right direction. I also saw that the watch now shows the calories for the day on the steps view (I haven’t noticed that one in the past or at least haven’t click the alternative information button in that view).
I tested it a little bit last night and the step count is far more accurate now. Now if only there was historical heart rate data (ya I know it’s coming), I will have have no big complains and will recommend it to friends.
-
@PC_et 35 steps while sleeping is more than acceptable, huge improvement. My suuntp baro records 400~ steps during the night and I am not lunatic
-
I’m with the latest FW version I woke up with 500-600 steps 3th day in a row
Also apparently I’m sleeping about 5 hours a day on average so I guess I’m sleep walking the other 3 hours, and this is where the steps come from…
