@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Thanks man, I already told you I was an old guy, I am really a dinosaur. I use my mac (I don’t own a pc either:) every day most of the day for work so… I am used to using either the Mac or the iPhone. I do like moving most functions to the phone and glad to hear that the app will work as a service to MC. Still, I find it rather amazing that the S3F is not compatible with MC.

Reading Gerald’s review, and looking at some of the screens, gives me a lot of hope for a future firmware update for our Spartans, even if it’s just little things. It looks like a lovely little device for the right market segment.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Thanks for clarifying some things up!
That info with Suunto App have a quite similar connection as Strava is really useful/important to me, seems like I am not the target market because I still use a computer. Not a PC, only Mac here, but having all those connection is really good to know.
That really makes sense with the S3F and only app usage. Really looking forward to the next firmware release, the launch of the new watch and the start of the Suunto App!

@brad_olwin But at 25th April Suunto app will be official launched just for SF3, without support for Ambit and Spartan? I did not understand.
-
@luís-pinto for now maybe only s3f, but to invest such effort to develop app only for s3f wouldnt be reasonable, so I think all watches are going to be supported sooner or later.

Yes let me make this crystal clear.
We have an issue with the suunto app at this moment.
As you all understand it’s far from ready for the Spartans but it’s almost ready for the s3f and should be.
However the app needs to hit the stores for the s3f users on release.
We thought about not allowing app store (and playstore) users that install the app not to be able to pair their Spartans. But that is not the best decision. So it’s not the way.
So:
The app will hit the store at the s3f release. Users with Spartans will be promoted and know that if they pair their Spartan the functionality for the Spartans will not be ok and they will be also testsing a beta feature of the app. So Spartan sync with the app from the stores will be a beta feature.
At the same time , we will continue with here and the beta releases until we get this right. And believe me from what I have seen it’s going to be awesome in some months.
All your requests , chats , fears, bugs, issues and thoughts are taken 100% into consideration. We are cooking this experience for you. The people in this forum. You are driving the requests and helping this. Suunto is so happy about this beta, and it’s putting all the effort now on this. S3f is released, 2 more weeks for the s3f app fixes and then boom. Suunto is full on us and the Spartans. Android will get a speed up as well.
I hope this helps and good morning my friends. I love to see you here. All of you. Grumpy or not. You all have added and add continuously great value !!! Keep it up.

If you want to help to speed up android app development here is opportunity for you:

You know what, that is totally fine with me. I still can use my Spartan with SuuntoLink to Movescount, and if the new app keeps on working like right not in Beta stage, well, I can live with that. We have this opportunity here to test and help create an app we want. And for me that is truly a great experience.
Some might not think so, but for me and my usage of the app, I can live to wait a little more. Keep up the good work, and hopefully good spirits as well with all bugs and issues and impatient users!

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thanks for clarification. It’s very good that someone can speak and tell us about our doubts.

Don’t forget I am also a consumer. I also have my fears and more over yours as well. Some nights I get nightmares no joke. I can rest assure you there is not 1% of resources not working for the Spartans and the app. All the company focus is and was on this.
Things are getting better , and I hope you will see it with the coming Spartan updates. Perhpas something I can share more with you, is that Spartan development has taken a boost and things are really going in the way that you would like to. -
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I just want to say thank you for such information. It really means a lot

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Rejoice again!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks for all of that information!! To hear Suunto is very happy with the beta means we are making a difference. A long-time complaint I have seen in forums is that Suunto doesn’t listen when in fact Suunto does not acknowledge enough that they listen. It is up to us to help on FB and other social media. I am really looking forward to this as I think the new app and existing hardware has tremendous potential.

Hi!
I have been reading a bit about S3F and I have seen that some functionalities are provided by Firstbeat, that is a external company.
I imagine that companies like Suunto, Garmin, TomTom… must pay some kind of license to use this technologies, so, perhaps adding some S3F features (V2Max, Adaptative plans, Stress and Recovery and Sleep quality) to Spartans (or Ambits) is not an option
.
Someone knows something about that?
-
@suzzlo next sw update should be this month if I’m not wrong so watch this space
.
But some of the features from Firstbeat are not really relevant for Spartan owners like the adaptative training plan.
Well just my opinion -
@nicolasp well, I agree that Adaptive Training Plans may not be relevant for Spartans, but VO2Max, sleep quality and recovery can help on our daily training.
My question is if we can get easily S3F features or are some legal/royalty issues…

At the moment I don’t have an answer about this and it’s all about liscences.
However the recover and est. Vo2max that you already have follows the same principals with first beat. That said when I was testing these stats both with s3f and the ambit they where almost identical with the current Spartan values.
