it could be a faulty baro component (dirty or faulty).
If dirty, a quick search here will show you some test to do check , and clean
If faulty, your best friends now is suunto support which it likely to change your watch : it could arrive.

you can try to check if the venting holes for the pressure sensor are always clear and not blocked from wet skin… I’ve had this issue with a Suunto Core once.
But it gave me a 5 times wrong result.
I assume this can also happen with the S9 as the sensors holes are located at 9 o’clock and you want the OHR sensors to work properly and hence tighten the watch straps a bit more… right?

            alright, forget about my post…
GPS altitude is always less precise than with baro.

Ambit 3 what? Run? Sport? Peak?
                EDIT: …sorry, you mentioned it…
maybe it’s because of a different GPS chipset… but there are people here knowing that better than me!
I thought I give my input on that question that was related to pressure sensor is measuring “pumping on skin”…

Try to reset GPS - see https://www.suunto.com/Support/Product-support/suunto_ambit2_s/suunto_ambit2_s/adjusting-settings/service-menu/ (this should be the same for A3 too).

@Carles-Merin The Garmin5 series have barometers. Without a barometer the GPS altitude is just not that accurate. On larger climbs it seems to do better but not on small ones. The S9 without a barometer will not record an altitude change unless it is over 7m. If the altitude is important to you, the S9 with a barometer is a much better choice.

ok thanks. i know this, with barometer is more exact, but other suuntos like ambit run and ambit sport 3, give the correct values, and my suunto, that is more actual, give an incorrect values of altimeter

@Carles-Merin Make sure the AGPS file is current so always sync the watch with SA before you go. I do think there is room for improvement with the altitude in GPS. The antenna on the Ambits is outside the watch and the chipsets are different but you should not be that far off. Have you used Dimitrios’ QS site to see where the differences are? In addition, do you have the latest firmware?

@Brad_Olwin yes i have the last firmware, and i sincronise the watch until go to run, but the values dont be correct.i find satelits, and i wait 2 o 3 minutes to have a better signal, but dont works well…sometimes, i start the move, and i m running downhill, and the suunto is increasing the meters of climb up!!! how can be this ??
i really very bored with this watch…it have a good estetique, but the software give me a lot of problems…
