    Hello,

Does anyone else having issues S9 not recognizing correctly turns while swimming?

I’ve had now two times this issue. S9 adds 300m to 1000m swim.

This should be very easy to fix, since there’s now way that I could suddenly swim 50m in less than 20s when my average is over 1min.

This has happened to me now twice maybe from in less than 10 swims, so it happens relatively often.

I had previously Polar V800 and I donät remember ever having similar issues while swimming in pool.

Is Suunto developers aware of the issue and maybe there’s going to be a fix? If I remember correct, on DCR’s comments for S9 in depth review there were similar experiences, but I thought newer FW would have fixed these.

    Thanks,

    -Tapio

I think on DCR that was for open water and that bug is out.

I am not sure if this is something known but I will open a bug report just in case

Was working well for me too, except when I stopped mid lane, but every watch will fall for that.

I have Suunto Spartan Baro and I observed similar problem, but I don’t do flip turns, I just tap the wall and turn. I noticed that if I do turns quickly then sometimes watch do not recognize turn right and it counts too much or doesn’t count at all. I mostly had problem that it counted less. I noticed that watch will count as a turn every significant distraction from regular periodic movement so you don’t have to swim correctly as it will also count for every style posible. Anyway it is not 100% correct, but that do not disturb me too much, mostly it is ok.

@nseslija I swim breaststroke. My technique is not very polished though. That said, I had no issues with Polar V800.

Mainly S9 detects turns where there is no turn at all. I think this should be be easy to fix. If my average turn rate is over minute, it should be easy to detect that less than 20 second after last turn is not possible.

@bbx100 I tap the wall and kick 🙂 I don’t get where the extra turns come.

@Tapio-Väättänen I swimm breststroke occasionally and I have never experienced any issuees as I wrote before.I can only advise you to read the manual, if you didn’t already… maybe that helps…

Based on what’s in the manual I believe the additional turns are due crowded pool and the extra moves while trying to pass other swimmers. When there is no other swimmers there’s no extra turns either.

Will try today with extra caution 🙂
