Suunto 7

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos it’s possible to configure this settings per sport profile or this settings apply globally?
I have another question: Did you try to use suunto 7 to run indoors? How exact it is?
thx
-
@jorgefd78 nope I have not tried that. Also not possible to configure “battery” modes per sport. However, you can easily turns tones off on though and some other settings in realtime during the activity.
That said you knwo you can exit the recording app and do what you like with it.

I will do a short run indoors today and let you know, I will compare to Stryd, S9 and S7.

I want to test this watch ASAP to see how works and if it fits in my daily sports. The lack of stryd is a huge milestone for me.

It would be great to have a thread with useful WearOS apps for the Suunto 7.
In this topic there was the app “Instruments” from appfour which is a bundle of helpful instruments (GPS, altimeter, speedometer, stopwatch, compass) - - > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearinstruments
With these installed instruments e. g. a widget with sunrise/sunset is available for watchfaces with customizable complications.
Here in the screenshot the upper right widget (now, after sunset the time of the sunrise is at the top, after sunrise the time of sunset is at the top):
There are special watchfaces for the Qualcomm 3100 chip in the play store.
And I think there are more useful tips out there amongst the Suunto 7 users.

@pilleus how can you find those “decomposing” watchfaces?
I think the “decomposing” was the term I learned but if you have another sure.

I found a discussion in the Google developer forum about the 3100 watch faces. I didn’t understand all the facts about the needed code to compile these watch faces, but two developers offer these watch faces.

The SportyGo app will connect with Stryd and will show power. I did not care much for the app but that is a personal issue. Perhaps, Stryd folks could be convinced to develop WearOS apps, they did develop an AW app that is quite good. I would inquire on their forums.

@Bulkan @jorgefd78 @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Below is a screenshot for a ~ 1 km treadmill run with Stryd, S7 and S9. All were imported into QS. Treadmill reported 1.08km. That is about as far as I can run on a treadmill without getting physically ill:). I am allergic to running indoors. Stryd was uncalibrated and recording independently.
-
@Brad_Olwin I know that feeling thank you so much for the information!
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks for such painful experience, we needed the data. Looks fine for me.
-
Now how cool is this

Please try: Turn on the sun in the sky! ️
-
@Brad_Olwin Did you run any incline on a treadmill?
So, in absolute terms… We are talking 84 m difference on 1km run vs Stryd (8%) and 31 m difference vs treadmill (less than 3%). I’d imagine the truth would be somewhere in the middle, and it warms my heart to see that middle is where S7 roughly sits
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Excited to see where the Suunto Plus thing goes in the future with more apps!
-
not in the direction of suunto 7.
I would keep the speeches separate:- Suunto plus will only run on the suunto proprietary operating system
- wear OS apps only on Suunto 7 (or future wear OS watches)
-
@Saketo-Nemo sure, I also agree the two things should be separate, but S+ has been mentioned more than once here, therefore @Storz comments.
-
@Saketo-Nemo lets see and hope that S7 gets Suunto Plus. Why not ?
