Suunto 7

@jorgefd78 system Android. I bet autoupdated apps.
Ok.
This might be a good tip.
Turn off autouodate apps on Google play on the watch.
I suspect that is the case here but no expert.
-
Also in general , perhaps to add my initial thoughts here. The first day I got my s7 I charged it twice. Meaning playing around etc installing apps testing a run and so on.
The more you get used to the watch and the more it becomes a norm , for me it’s ok.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I was wondering if that “leak” also covered external sensors using only the low power processor?

Honestly, rumor has it 3100 SoC’s low power core can only handle signals from GPS and OHR sensors, due to how SoC is designed. I couldn’t validate this as most of the Qualcomm docs are behind registration wall. Anyhow, my hopes for native external sensor support are pretty low in this iteration of S7.
Look at it another way: DCR mentioned talking about heart rate sensors with a lead S7 dev at CES for a good hour. Something that’s clearly planned doesn’t require an hour long discussion. Reminds me of his many unsuccessful attempts to persuade Fitbit to support sensors in their higher end devices. Perhaps, there aren’t that many of us who need these additional features and the focus would indeed be on common user who can’t be bothered about accurate heart rate, running power, or structured workouts.

Honestly there is much development involved from both side (Google + Suunto + Qualcomm)
Any rumors about either Suunto native integration with Google Fit, or pushing activity tracking stats from S7 inside Suunto app? What about any Firstbeat metrics? None coming?

Not yet a 3100 watch face, but exactly the color of the strap (the picture is not exact with the colors).
The first impression is very positive.

The first day or so with a Wear OS watch it chugs through the battery quickly, my WSD-F20 and WSD-F30 both did this. Lots of updates etc

@Storz Strap is a Amazon one
-
@NickK yeah honestly I have heard 0 about sensors. That said if the life is 5h with mp3 (drm) 5h with sensors is ok for me. Just enable it and show the battery toll to the user right ?
-
@NickK about FB there are rumors.
About fit why not. Imo it’s not hard. The case though can be complicated if those data are need to reach the SUUNTO cloud that eventually get pushed to partners. Get the point ?
-
Anyone know of somewhere that has black or black/lime in stock? I am not sure Amazon actually has the one I ordered
-
@pilleus wow so cool!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Just support Stryd would be enough for me.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you have notices about the impact in the battery when google pay is configured in the watch due to the full-time oHR sensor? AFAIK when you enable google pay, the watch use oHR to know if you quit the watch to ask for a PIN for security
other question: do you know if suunto is going to sell S7 charger alone?
-
@jorgefd78 about the charger no idea atm I can ask Monday.
About the ohr question, no
This functionality is always on, pay configured or no.
There is even a setting “turn on dnd if watch is not on wrist”
The ohr module has IR that is a separate component Todo this. No ohr fires up.
For example I don’t use 24/7 HR tracking and this feature works.

thank you dimitrios for this detailed answer
did you experience some problem with wifi? sometime it doesn’t detect my wifi (router is about 2 meters from me) or it takes a long time to connect
-
@jorgefd78 if you noticed the watch has no wifi “on” only off and auto.
The watch will try not to use wifi if apps don’t need a lot of data.
So the watch decides cleverly what to use , Bluetooth or wifi.
For example if you open the Google play app, it will try to connect to WiFi.
This is a wear os / Google strategy to provide the best battery life.
