      Hello guys,

I got Suunto 9 Baro a month ago and I have been, passively following this forum since then.

I recently left my review of S9B and the things I would like to be improved, that meant a lot to me on my V800.

The backlight - in custom mode (if not in all activities) enable/disable backlight by pressing and holding middle button for 2 seconds (or double press the button but that would be harder if even possible).
One press is pause and longer press and hold will show up activate settings.

I don’t have backlight turned on at all, because I am not really satisfied with daily battery life, coming from 5 year old V800 without optical HR and colour screen which lasts waaay longer without enabled notifications. I get about 5 days of battery life with daily activity on, light off, notifications off, airplane mode ON and DND 10p.m. - 8 a.m. That’s without any sports activity.
Maybe also ability to automatically turn off the screen until any button is pressed to save battery life?

I enabled two finger tap that is fiddly most of the time, especially while running (and with sweaty fingers). Also no way to turn the backlight that way when wearing gloves.

I will make 2 more topics with my suggestions for other features (altitude calibration and more screens in training view).
Virtual trainer (race pace) suggestion already exists as well as for web (Suunto) app.

@Cuba1hr Something isn’t right with your S9 if you only get 5 days with these settings. I was getting 4-5 days with default backlight options, 24/7 HR tracking, sleep and recovery/resources, notifications, and upward of 3-4 hours of training a good bulk of it with GPS. This was worse than before the introduction of Firstbeat stuff when S9 would easily last 7 days+ with even more training, most of it with GPS and OHR.

Well I don’t know. They state a week with notifications and daily activity monitoring. I think it could get near 2 weeks with “time mode” - activity monitoring off, notifications off and airplane mode on.
It is much better when daily activity is off. Sometimes OHR sensors activate when the watch is on table, when screen is off. I don’t know why, maybe that is for monitoring sleep if your hand does not move.

I got the last two firmwares. I mean the watch looked new, bands also with specific “new” smell and it had firmware 2.10.18 out of the box and it had juice when turned on. That was a bit suspicious since the FW was since last October and watch was bought in December. I thought maybe the latest batch got in the store or maybe it was display watch in a window, but I cannot check that.

Is there a way to check date of manufacture by serial number or to check charge cycles somehow?

Like it uses less battery during GPS (+Gallieo) tracked activity and optical HR:) That part works fine, it loses only few percents of battery for an hour of workout.
I thought it could be improved with better firmware for daily activity or screen off.

@Cuba1hr Hi, I also switched from V800 to S9baro since November. V800 is unbelievable, without training I charge my watch every 30 days! S9baro have pulse measurement off, standby on, 2-3 times weekly exercises each lasting 1 hour 20min. I charge the watch after 10 to 12 days. I also wonder if we can check the history of our watch by serial number.
