Suunto 7 - Tips and tricks, apps and watch faces
-
I also installed some appfour apps (Altimeter, Compass, Speedometer). However, when I checked the battery consumption in the Wear OS app (on the phone), I saw that Altimeter and Speedometer were using battery, even though I hadn’t opened the apps! It was only 1% per app, but apps like those should not use battery in the background IMO.
-> I uninstalled the apps… -
@MO92119
I had Wear Mail app by Appfour and it was draining the battery a lot.
It seems that some apps by Appfour are killing the battery. -

@pilleus
Wear altimeter of appfour.
Setting : gps by phone ,barometric altimeterI deactivated all options. The app uses then the barometer of the S7 for the altitude and not the GPS based altitude from the phone.
-
I cant make any changes. When I want to deactivate I have only screen with full version to buy.
-
@hqvkamil you need the paid version to disable phone GPS.
-
@hqvkamil sorry, but I have the appfour flat rate and therefore my answer.
-
@pilleus are you getting good results with the appfour altimeter? I get reasonable results recording activities with the Suunto app, but the appfour altimeter seems always very wrong.
-
@isazi I have the actual altitude with the appfour altimeter. No problems and not more than 3 meters offset to the correct altitude.
-
Are any of you using Wear Message app by Appfour?
Do you see also pictures in Whatsapp messages in S7?
Mine doesn’t show pics even though I have also Wear Photos app where also Whatsapp pictures show.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and Appfour can’t help me.Also Whatsapp group conversations are a big mess. They don’t show all the messages and some of them appear twice and also conversation is sometimes split to few conversations.
I was thinking if there is some better message app for Wear OS than Wear Messages?
-
@JANTIKAINEN I am using wear messages (appfour) on my S7. Pictures are shown, messages can be seen sorted by different chats. Videos too, because I installed the video app (appfour) too.
I just disabled notifications from WhatsApp to avoid double messages.
-
@pilleus
By double messages I didn’t mean I get notification both from Wear Messages and Whatsapp.
I’ve also disabled Whatsapp notifications,I meant like it’s shown in the pic here.
It’s a Whatsapp group conversation and first it shows the message and then it shows the sender and the same message again. Pics and videos are blank even though I have installed Photos and Video app.
-
@JANTIKAINEN okay, this happens sometimes, but I don’t know why. And not in all groups.
-
@isazi To be honest, I would have liked Suutno to provide a professional solution here. Altimeter is an essential function of an outdoor watch. The Altimeter Apps from Wear OS are real power eaters. Suunto’s in-house solution, for example, like the Baro 9, was much better for me personally.
-
@Stephan_74 In my opinion, Suunto should make their own suite of apps covering features like Sleep tracking, altimeter/barometer (storm alarm), sunset/sunrise alarms, compass, location/grid coordinates and of course enhance the Suunto sports tracker Wear app with navigation and support for external sensors.
-
@Stephan_74 me too, but currently it’s not like this, and I am using the AppFour altimeter (although I don’t like it).

SyncMyTracks is updated to sync to Suunto app directly. No need to use Sportstracker.
The missing ascent and descent is still the problem. The graph of the altitude is correct.
A problem of the Suunto app or Sportstracker.
Interesting for users who record activities with third party apps and want to import the results into the Suunto app.
-
@pilleus You could just sync to Movescount, which would automatically sync to Suunto. That seems to be a fairly stable route, though I haven’t checked all stats. If I remember correctly, there was an issue with power data syncing at one point…
-
@NickK I have to register in Movescount then? I think Movescount is dying?

So it means that Suunto App API is now available. Maybe QS will enable import to SA

Does not work for me. There was an initial transfer of the history, but no added activity is synced to Suunto app. In Suunto app Movescount is listed as connected and vice versa.
Any ideas?
