Suunto 7 - Tips and tricks, apps and watch faces

@NickK I have to register in Movescount then? I think Movescount is dying?

SyncMyTracks is updated to sync to Suunto app directly. No need to use Sportstracker.
The missing ascent and descent is still the problem. The graph of the altitude is correct.
A problem of the Suunto app or Sportstracker.
Interesting for users who record activities with third party apps and want to import the results into the Suunto app.
So it means that Suunto App API is now available. Maybe QS will enable import to SA

You could just sync to Movescount, which would automatically sync to Suunto.
Does not work for me. There was an initial transfer of the history, but no added activity is synced to Suunto app. In Suunto app Movescount is listed as connected and vice versa.
Any ideas?

@pilleus
This connection with MC is not real connection but is saying : โHey, you have imported your MC history, it is only once, but no new MC moves will be sent to SAโ
The sync from MC to SA, is eventually done with connect MC to Sportstracker, but i think it is no more a good solution. -
@Mff73 I assumed that. I just tried to import an activity recorded with the S7 and a third party app into Suunto app without loosing ascent and descent. But this is not possible. The same faulty import as it happens with Sportstracker. No good news.

@pilleus
Yep, I see the same. Maybe just Syncmytracks, but who knows. Syncmytracks only works with tcx or gpx, maybe lack of information in these files. Or just SA which needs Fit files with all ascent/descent header + extra data not in TCS files. I donโt know.
I also extract one tcx file from SA. I obtain a 8Mo file where the same activity from MC is only 650Ko. -
@Mff73 the upload from Ghostracer to Strava and the import in QS is working perfect. All data shown.
The problem is on the side of Sportstracker and Suunto app.

Iโd try to disconnect Movescount from Suunto and setup a connection again. I think I did it several times, though Iโm not sure that disconnect ever happened. So, right now if I push anything to Movescount, it pops up in my Suunto app almost instantly. Unless thereโs an activity with roughly the same timestamp in Suunto already.

How to calibrate Compass in suunto app?
I dont understand why it isnโtโฆ
Sometimes it would need -
@NickK now I connected Movescount additionally to SportsTracker and it seems that this was the solution. Import immediately and with ascent and descent. I try to figure out, which connection (Suunto or SportsTracker) is the working one.

Okay guys, Iโll be out here for the future, because I sold my S7.
I found a WearOS watch which is much more fitting my needs (all dayโs usage and sports, mountain biking, cycling, walking and kayaking with less battery usage and the same accuracy).
And for routes and the Polar H10 I have the Spartan Ultra Stealth Titanium and my old Ambit 3.
Have fun and keep moving!

@pilleus good luck!! I hope to see you again here

@pilleus Just out of curiosity - which watch is it?!

Iโm just leaving this topic. There are still two Suunto watches in my usage.

For my sports the Ticwatch Pro 2020 is the best WearOS watch out there. Especially the battery usage, the brilliant second display, the native sleep tracking and the speaker, which gives me via tts every kilometre or every 10 minutes the state of my activity with distance, duration, calories, average speed and heart rate. It is awesome.

@pilleus Iโm sorry to see you go. Your adventurous approach to finding apps and work arounds to solve problems and fulfill needs will be missed!

Google Fit and battery usage
I experienced, that deactivating Google Fit will deactivate all tracking of heart rate, steps and calories at the moment. Suunto WearApp doesnโt do this job quite now.
Setting up the S7 in the beginning I deactivated location services for Google Fit, but in the settings of the S7 I saw, that location service is enabled after all. I didnโt track my activities with Google Fit, therefore I deactivated activity tracking in Google Fit too. No need for location services.
Then I decided to deactivate location services for Google Fit in the S7 settings. Just follow the screenshots (excuse me for the German language, but you will find the corresponding settings in your own language).
Open settings - apps¬ficiations - app info - scroll down to system apps - open system apps - scroll down to Fit - open Fit - scroll down to permissions - deactivate location services - confirm the dialog field with the warning.
Now Google Fit will work without tracking activities with using GPS and the battery usage should be minimal.
