I have just bought a S7 and was wondering whether the Sunnto app picks up a bluetooth HRM (which can be paired via Google fit)?

@kkalsi The Suunto Wear OS app does not permit BT paired devices. The Suunto app on the watch uses the co-processor and provides the long GPS battery life advertised. If you use a different app, which is possible, you will experience much reduced battery life, depending on screen set up, etc. The OHR on the S7 is excellent and matches my belt for all of my activities. I simply don’t need the belt with the S7

@Brad_Olwin But still very much needed when you don’t have the watch on the wrist all the time. Remember, watch strapped to the handlebar or in winter when using more layers, I for example have the watch over the first thin layer. There are many situations where external HR through a belt are useful. Doesn’t matter if the OHR is pretty good, with BT support the watch can be more useful.

@kkalsi Not possible to pair any external sensors at the moment. Quite possibly, may never be possible due to SoC limitations for low power core used by Suunto app. That being said, Sporty Go will get you any sensors you want, including running power from Stryd. It will use more power though and you will have to do something to get the workouts back into Suunto app, though tools exist for that.

As @Brad_Olwin mentioned, the OHR is really good on S7. Perfectly suitable for running, biking, rowing, and possibly yoga/stretching. I would only rely on external sensors for strength/free weights and plyometric exercises like kettlebells and high box jumps. Please search one of my recent posts – I published a comparison between S9/H10 and S7 for gym workouts.

Is it possible to broadcast the heart rate from the Suunto 7 while wearing the watch and using the Suunto App?I want to get the heart rate on my workout equipment (Peloton Bike).
