Hi all, I rarely use the timer in stopwatch mode on my Suunto 9, but now I needed it and was surprised it does not foresee a lap mode? Basically, it is stopwatch on, off or reset?

I would really like to create laps and have the watch list the various laps and the time of each lap. The current lap number could be shown above the running timer, and instead of “Set timer” at the bottom of the screen, it would say “your laps” and pulling that up or pushing the bottom right button shows the list of laps and the time each one has stopped.

Quick update, although I seem to be the only one looking for a lap mode on a stopwatch 😕

I have created an “Other” sports mode and named it “Stopwatch with Laps”, designed the screens as I needed them, and switched GPS and heart rate monitor off (since on a stopwatch, I do not need that). Problem solved. 😊

I will use this old topic because there are not many stopwatch topics in the forum … it seem that probably almost nobody cares/ uses this function much. 🙂 The stop watch funcionality on the Ambit was on high level (extra screen, lap functionality…). The stop watch on the current suunto watch plarform (Spartan, S3,S5, S9) is super basic. Does anybody lack these “advance” stopwach feature or it is just me?

I would like to see at least one improvement/fix. When the stopwatch is running you can go back to the menu/home screen and stopwatch keeps running on the background but when you pause the watch there is no way how to go back to menu/ home screen without the stopwatch being reset.

So there is just no way how to keep the value of measured time for later or how to go back to stopwatch and press continue (when the watch is paused the back button works simultaneously as a reset button). I would consider this as a bug but this behavior is since Spartan…so it is probably…nobody cares 😄

…I know I can create custom sport mode with lap screen and use it as a stopwatch but that is little bit overkill for my “daily life” stopwatch use (when cooking, driving somewhere, measuring time for kids etc…).

@tomkys I like the idea of being able to go back to the watch face and still have the timer running. Will report this to Suunto when I have the occasion.

@isazi going back while timer running is already possible.
Just not with timer stopped (there is no real pause button).
You even get the running timer shown here (and a tap on the time takes you back to the timer main screen)
