@activejiggy I don’t think that changing the step counting will affect the battery very much.
Something to realize with the Suunto 5 (I assume this is the non-Peak version?) is the altitude is determined using GPS. If you use any GPS other than Performance mode the altitude/ascent/descent will not show in the watch as 1 min GPS fixes do not allow for determining altitude changes.
The 2, 5 and 10 sec fixes will not improve battery by much, that is why they were not implemented. In the Ambit series these were to provide a reasonable GPS track with some battery savings. In watches that have a compass, Suunto has developed FusedTrack so your GPS tracks are very good even with a 2 min GPS fix.
For the Suunto 5, this watch does not have a compass so FusedTrack is not possible.

@surfboomerang I enable the same setting for all other sport modes than the ones I use for navigation precisely because of this.

Would be a very slick feature to enable the option.

@BKtoo You will need a route loaded into the app. You can create a route ahead of time and load it into the watch with no cellular connection but you cannot retrieve the exercise and load it into the watch as with the A3P

@isazi going back while timer running is already possible.
Just not with timer stopped (there is no real pause button).
You even get the running timer shown here (and a tap on the time takes you back to the timer main screen)

I have requested the ability to enable audio alarm for intervals and navigation (out of route). Once a session has started. I like to have the sound alarm turned off and only with vibration, but sometimes it is desirable to be notified with sound as well. As it is now, one has to go through many menus and do it before training. I realy hope that this get implemented in next update.

May be just a suggestion here … in case of bearing nevigation setup, undertline
The advantage is that you will visually very easily see the difference between when you are in the process to setup the bearing direction versus when you are just looking to the COMPASS

Just a hint: As I have seen or read other posts, mostly spo2 is just to see weather you are getting sick (I am that type with a bit astma and currently is winter time with Snow, so I am expecting some problems 🙂 ) and also might help to detect sleeping apnea (you can realize if you are snoring) if this all day/sleep time monitoring is applied.

With reference to what you suggest about manual execution of the synch, make sense but still it depends on the Suunto App/Movecount code. I think that data that are pushed to Strava is not coming from the excercise header but from laps.
If so, then key is to make possible edition of laps.
