Suunto 9 Baro display is frozen in boot mode (display shows a downward facing arrow - "arrow down" - symbol), soft/hard reset won't fix. Oh and it's race week. Ugh.
-
@Stack This is the connection from OHR Module to the mainboard. The servicecenter will know the problem.

@surfboomerang I’m sure someone on here who’s at Suunto might correct this, but my understanding is that GPS synchronization doesn’t happen through the Suunto App… I thought I had to plug it into the PC to get software updates and GPS synchronization. maybe @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos has a better answer? I normally use my phone connection to sync activities.
Honestly after this experience if I don’t have to plug it into the PC again I probably won’t.

Suunto app syncs everything Suuntolink does except firmware updates.
I never connect my watch to my pc unless there is a firmware update.
-
@Stack I also only plug my watch in the computer only for firmware updates, the Suunto app does everything for the S9. Also, you have an Ambit, do you still have Moveslink or similar installed?

SA is the preferred method for GPS synchronization not Suuntolink for the S-series and Spartans.

Happened to me once with an Spartan, nothing was working and I just had to let the battery die. Was some time ago and never happened again. Basically these things are computers, and no computer is immune to a bug from time to time…

Status update- race didn’t quite go to plan, but watch worked great for the duration and I haven’t had issues since! Already signed up for another ultra and now I know what to expect.
@isazi i did make sure Moveslink was removed awhile ago. I haven’t had it on any computer in at least 6 months, I recall in the past having watch discovery issues because of it so I deleted it (i want to say back in June but not sure)
@Brad_Olwin thank you for the update, I’ll use the app in the future. Can firmware updates be done over the app as well or am I supposed to do those only on Suuntolink?
@martin Glad yours resolved the same way, I’ve seen quite a few instances of it pop up on reddit/other forums lately. Have tried to share this link where I can so others are aware of the issue and potential solutions.
Nevermind on the firmware question @Brad_Olwin , just saw @surfboomerang 's post. Thank you!

@Stack Congratulations on your race. The new firmware fixes the problem you had so you should not see it again.

@Stack I had the same problem with my Suunto 9 Baro. Sent my device to the service center: “Dear customer, I have changed the optical heart rate sensor of your device.”…
-
@Stack The soft reset worked for the down arrow error.
-
Having the same issue with the Suunto 9 Peak. This is my second one sending to Customer Service as my first one couldn’t connect to GPS even with the assisted on. See error I am getting below. Doesn’t allow me to do anything.
Will keep you all posted. Last time they sent me this watch they also gave me and extra 3 months of warranty which I thought was nice. Looks like it came in handy

@jrmitt808 I would take the watch off the charger and press the upper button for at least 12 sec. Sometimes it takes a bit longer. The watch should reboot.
-
@Stack what distance was the ultra? Do we get a race report??
