    Been wearing my S9B and my Whoop 24/7 for about a week now using the Whoop as a HRM when performing activities.

    Results have been that I’m consistently seeing about double the calories burned reported by the S9 as I am by the Whoop. While I will say that Whoop is pretty cloak and dagger w their algos and metrics (can’t even see my generated HR max for example), the Whoop values seem to be more in line.

    For example - weight lifting session this morning. Nothing crazy, RPE of maybe 4-5 for a strength session. 45 minutes long, S9B calculated almost 400kcal while Whoop was only 128.

    I believe S9B calories are calculated using age/weight and not set HR zones. Is this true? Otherwise, is it possible to manipulate to bring it back down to a more “normal” type amount?

      Just remember that S9 does include metabolic calories too, not only active calories

        @sartoric it’s the active calories that I’m not so sure on. Rest of the day looks close enough.

          @stromdiddily
          I mean that 400 includes the active ones AND the metabolic calories burnt during the training.
          So if Whoop measure only active ones , you’ll surely find differences

              In my tests, I made the experience that Garmin and Suunto deliver almost identical values and Polar significantly more. I don’t think they can really measure their calories exactly.

                @Kurt68 no they can’t. I also heard that our bodies adapt to exercise to a point where total daily calories consumption is the same if we have an active lifestyle or not. Will link to sources later 🙂

                    This is the material I was talking about. The page contains the podcast, plus links to articles. Very interesting (according to me).

                      @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos oh OK. Thought it was based off of the body metrics. Don’t think there is a weights specific profile but perhaps I could create a running specific then play around w the default values 🤔

                        @Brad_Olwin did a 9 hour backcountry trip and feeled pretty hungry after that, too. In General I think the calculation works for when seeing on my activity level and how many calories I eat
