@luís-pinto said in SSWHR + belt -> heart rate wrong:

    Decathlon

I use scosche rhythm+ withous any issues as well, I do weight lifting so chest strap is not comfortable for me.

@slashas Yes, optic sensors in watch are more convenient.

@luís-pinto for weight lifting watch ohrm isnt the best solution cause of wrist move, but scosche on forearm works just flawless.

          @slashas We can’t have everything… ☺

For example a use dual protocol Decathlon HR sensor with a t-shirt with technical tissue that have belt inside. Its more comfortable.
I think optic or some type of new technology will improve.

@luís-pinto just to spice it up: ohr latetly also supports ibi (rr)

@slashas the schotche also supports ibi but it does it quite bad.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos is this just IBI at rest, or in motion too? And, and: is there a device available to buy, or is this still testing?

@luís-pinto you are wrong, as I am hitting my chest quite frequently and this way I have broke hrm-tri and suunto sensors with dumbbell and weight bar. For running or biking this is ok, but not for weight lifting 😉

More tests, I use compex gel today, and with 2 trainings no problems. Tomorrow I will try with running, in fact where I have more problems with HR, let’s see what happen.

@slashas After writing my post I realize that HRM-Tri it’s only ANT+, so, as you say, no compatibility with Suunto Spartan.

If tomorrow it’s not working, apart of contacting Suunto, I will have the possibility to try a Decathlon belt, let’s see what happens.

Interesting Scosche rhythm+, I didn’t know this brand, I will take a look.

@Luís-Pinto optic sensors are more convenient, or comfortable, but in some scenarios are less precise that a belt hr.

Because someone speak about Polar belt, I remember using it some years ago and my experience was really bad.

                      Perhaps the problem it’s me 😂 😂

SitRap: I washed the belt and the first ride after was fine. During the second ride after the wash I had some thoughts, that there might be something, but couldn’t be sure. Then, the start of the third ride was nothing but frustrating. It took about 11 mins to get the hr reading to watch. After that, everything ok for the rest 1,5 h. I really need to contact Suunto Support for this 😕

But, why I wanted to share this with you, is that I’m still very confused with this fault. How could it be, that before I start the exercise, watch is showing hr right (watch placed on a table, so I thought it’s not ohr)? I mean the screen displaying ”Start”, gps status and the hr. But when I pressed start, all I had for hr was just ”- -” 🤔
It really looked like the pre-exercise hr reading was correct, but it’s not. Eventhough the watch is on a table, the reading comes from ohr and not from the Smart Sensor, and it varies so that it looks “natural”. So, two points after this:

                          • Is there any way I could see reliably, if the watch is connected and using hr from Smart Sensor?
                          • If the watch is showing some generic hr readings even on the table, I’m not sure, if I could trust that reading even to check if I’m dead or not.

@jani-kaikkonen afaik there is something worked on regarding the hr source.

However, as said before , when my belt is bad, in the start the hr is correct! It just does not go up and down (variate) quickly. Then when I start the activity it goes completely off. Sometimes at start I get even 208 hr.

I would ask for a replacement for that belt asap!

My last tests with hr belt.

During the run of wednesday the hr starts correctly but in the middle of the run it starts to became non-sense, in top and bottom margins

                              http://www.movescount.com/es/moves/move207122314

Today in my run in a treadmill I try a Decathlon HR belt with strange values in short moment, I moved the belt and then the rest of the run everything works fine

                              Today train

                              http://www.movescount.com/es/moves/move207784383

I’m starting to think that the problem Is how I were the belt 😅. I’ll will check, because if it happens with two belts of differents brands doesn’t seems a hardware problem

The strange think is that if I where the belt in weight training for example hr data seems correct

I just saw this thread now and want to second the “clean the living daylights outta that thing” posts on here.
I had a lot of problems with dodgy HR data from the Suunto HR belt and took the suggestions here: http://www.natharward.com/heart-rate-monitor-not-working/ and took them up a notch a few weeks ago. Since then I’ve had zero problems anymore.
I pop out the sensor and swab the metal posts of the sensor and the spots on the HR strap where it snaps into with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol after every single time I use it. It only takes a few seconds. When I wet the belt before putting it on, I also squirt a drop of dish detergent on each electrode and scrub them good with my fingertip, then rinse them out. That only adds an extra couple seconds to wetting the strap, too.
Maybe it’s excessive, but I’ve abruptly gone from cursing that thing to no problems at all ever since I started doing that. Keep those ports, connectors and electrodes clean every time.
One other thing I do (I don’t know if it makes a difference or not). When I’m on the start exercise screen on my watch and it turns the heart icon green and starts displaying numbers, I give it 10 or so seconds before actually pressing start.
