@becco981 I’d give it a try with support. This does not look normal to me, but others can say also.
HOHOHO, I hope you can get us an official answer, (because I’m buying a S9P now)
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I already asked to official support but no answer yet.
Let’s see what happens next days. -
@zhang965 you can see from here that a few units (but not uncountable) had such issues. Directly from the factory. Now to scratch this on something soft does not sound normal to me. That’s why I suspected it might have been already like this.
Let’s see

Oh, that’s a lovely explication, can I have a discount code to buy a S9P ?

Here the answer from the Suunto customer care (via Twitter):
First of all, we feel very sorry to hear that your new Suunto 9 Peak is scratched. While titanium does scratch, of course, but unlikely possible to be made by plastic - we use Grade 5 titanium that is rather hard and to be scratched it needs an equally hard material. Not plastic. It needs to be hard stones, some types of tempered glass, gemstones, some types of steel, maybe some sandy debris (that is made of particles of hard stones - this is something that can happen in the house).

@chrisc92 I got 9 Peak Ti last Friday.
Today I accidentally scrubbed the nightstand (made of plastic) and the titanium ring got scratched a lot (see photo). I’m very disappointedI can’t imagine what will happen when I’ll bring it with me doing climbing
Strange, upon buying the S9P Ti, I checked with the support regarding the a possible Ti black one, and they even answer this:
“As for the colour-material combination of the casing and bezel, currently there are no plans to create different ones: bear in mind that we intentionally chose to let the titanium ones uncoated - so that the natural beauty of grade 5 titanium can shine, and also to avoid possible scratches to the coating that would ruin the elegance of the watch.” -
I was considering the S9P but I think I’ll wait it out for a while. The size reduction from 50mm to 43mm is a negative from my point of view, and I like the chunkiness of my gold S9B
I’ve had it for around two years; I’m definitely not gentle with it but despite this I am struggling to see a single mark, scratch or ding anywhere on its bezel or screen
-
@andré-faria chatting with support right now:
This is of course not 100% impossible - however, if you didn’t notice any scratches when you open the box and come to us immediately, but discovered it after using it for some time, it is rather unlikely issues directly from the factory.
-
@miniforklift the watch is beautiful and elegant but I like the chunkiness of the S9BTi too. Love the size too. This new one has better GPS, better battery life.
I don’t have any advantage from the light sensor and the oxygen sensor (that is quite inaccurate, to me).
I’m wondering that whether it’s worth upgrading or not. -
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos are all Ti batches affected? i’m going to pull trigger on Ti, but quite worried after seeing the picture. There is no local dealer in my country, so purchase is only from amazon
-
@kk1n76
Can’t you buy online from Suunto ? -
@sartoric there’s no option for suunto to deliver to my country, and if i select my country (singapore), it said “find dealers” for which there are none. There really is no local dealers in singapore bringing in suunto. They have the old one, but only the old S9B, and i heard that their dealership contract is ending, hence no new peak

In my experience, Amazon (products sold by Amazon) is the best place to buy things and forget about issues during warranty time. Returns are super easy, fast and without much questions.
I bought an Ambit 3 Vertical in Amazon, more than a year later I faced some issues with the screen, instead of contacting Suunto Service I contacted Amazon, they gave me the option to send it to Service or return all the money, which I choose and bought an SSU (later I read on the web that the issue with the A3V was a known issue for some units). -
@cosmecosta thanks, i shall get one from amazon then…

@becco981 we had issues with some units having already scratches. Are you sure you scratched it so easily ?
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos does the S9P Ti has some coating on “ring” near the glass?
-
@andré-faria not sure. But in the forum here some people reported some issues right? I am talking about those.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos No, no coating on the ring. They left the titanium in its natural color in order to emphasize the material.
After two weeks my S9PTi is full of scratches on the ring. -

With light it seems like a coating that is getting worn
This watch only has seen house and office life and a couple runs on the canal .
Very strange, I contacted support on Friday, they will analyze .
With low light all seems ok:
.I don’t want to be picky but I am a little concerned regarding long term.
Also at the time support said to choose titanium in order to avoid scratches, if it is not the case it is a little annoying .
On the A2/A3p I only had scratch when got s big big fall by bike with the watch on the handlebar
Even with usage on factories full of metal part/.
Let’s see, maybe just a deviation on the process… -
@andré-faria Ok, I’m waiting for an answer from the support as well.
I’ll keep you posted on it. -
@andré-faria Titanium scratches easier than steel. But I don’t know, how easily does the paint scratch on steel. If it’s similar to s9, then I’d say it’s pretty scratch resistant. 2 years of wear and tear - paint scratches barely noticeable.
