S9B chassis with S9 Peak technology inside
-
While I think the technology inside the S9 Peak looks amazing, for instance the battery life for such a small watch is incredible, I also love the size of my S9 Baro (maybe it’s my chunky wrists). So, I’m imagining transferring all the new S9 Peak tech into a watch the size of an S9B. Imagine how long the battery life of an S9 Peak could be with a battery the size of the S9 Baro! Also I’d love the bigger S9B screen using S9 Peak screen technology, which is higher contrast. Of course I’d also love the other goodies such as better wrist HR, pulse ox etc. What do you guys think? I think the battery life would be unbeatable.
-
@litchimonster I think better HR may be partially because of lower weight and smaller size.
-
@litchimonster yes please to this idea
-
@litchimonster This really needs to happen. I’m finding it impossible to part with my 9 Baro. A new model that’s the same size of the 9 Baro with the same features as the 9 Peak would be amazing. I’d buy it the first day it was available.
-
@дима-мельниченко This is probably true, but when exercising I use a chest strap for the best accuracy anyways. I think it would be more accurate than the current S9B, especially for measuring resting and recovery when you’re not moving around too much.
-
@litchimonster yes, it would be great! I can’t wait for that!
I’ve both S9BTi and S9PTi at the moment. The new one is beautiful. Best accuracy, battery life etc., but I feel comfortable with the dear old chunky S9BTi. With the S9BTi I feel free to hike, climb, run and do whatever I want because it gives me the sense of strength and, in fact, I hit it lots of time without any damage.
The new S9PTi should be the same but the glass is so exposed and the titanium is so thin that I feel scared every time I’m going to do something potential dangerous for the watch.
I’m probably just being paranoid, but I still prefer the old one.
What do you think about this?
Is the new one good for outdoor activities as climb or trekking? Thanks
-
Have to agree. I’d like many of the extras that the Peak has but I just prefer the size and clout of my S9B; downsizing from 50mm to 43mm is a big jump to make, and as a runner I do favour a big screen
FWIW I’m not fussed on the Oxygen sensor, seems like it would rarely be required and I’d be surprised if the readings were overly accurate anyway
-
@miniforklift I’ll keep both for now. Maybe I’ll decide to sell one in the future.
-
@becco981 well, I had one S9P steel for three weeks in the Alps recently, hiking, mountaineering, running, mountain biking. No issues.
-
@isazi No watch is bulletproof. I managed to hit my watch on my surfboard, which is basically sanding paper on the top. The steel and glass don’t have any scratch, but the black coating did took a hit.
But hey, it’s an outdoor watch so eventually it will have some scars. Just a sign that you use the watch
-
@miniforklift I’d agree, I’d really be after the better battery life and high contrast screen an updated S9B with S9P internals could offer. The other stuff would be a ‘nice to have’. If they could also make the bezel smaller on the S9B the screen could be really big and easy to read.
-
@surfboomerang sure, my S9B is also very scratched from years of hitting rocks (and walls at home). I expect my black S9P to lose paint at some point.
-
What about a S9P with a more sporty and outdoor look? like S9B Ambassador Edition with new hardware
S9P looks like some Samsung Galaxy or Huawei smartwatch. -
@theguyfromthesummit I think it’s safe to say more looks will come eventually, just like with s9b.
-
Let’s put my 2 cents here …
The S9Baro
with the contrast of the S9Peak
and a screen that take all the size of the area (so 30% bigger)
but still with a huge battery life …
plus if possible some of the suggestions I proposed
… no … ALLwell well well … I will start to save money immediaelly for having the chance to buy it …
Are we not starting to imaging what a S10PeakBaro could be
-
@mister-pyc I think it was mentioned that one can’t avoid big bezels with current screen technology and I doubt suunto will drastically change the hardware in another S9 interaction ( if it will exist at all). But I’ll probably be improved in s11 or whatnot, so in a hugely new type of watch.
Of course, just my opinion, we’ll see what the future brings. -
Guess it may please the ones on this thread

@dmytro yes yes … the 9 serie might see some software upgrade, and let’s wait a 10 or 11 serie with a bigger new brighter hardware screen … Let’s be patient and for the moment appreciate this 9 baro which days after days I love more and more and more
