Anyone using stainless steel version here? Is there any difference in terms of GPS reception? Also, what type of steel it uses? 316 or? will the steel version rust? (I have acidic sweat)

@kk2n-kk I have the steel version. I swim in tbe Mediterranean and own the watch for 6+ months. No rust so far.

@kk2n-kk just googled plasma frequency of metals. I didn’t find a specific number for steel vs titanium, but according to the Wikipedia it’s in UV range for most metals which is nowhere near to the frequency of GPS signal. Thus I wouldn’t expect material to influence reception quality. (Considering build stays the same, which I assume to be the case)

@kk2n-kk I own all black steel version for more than a month now, have yet to get a single bad GPS track with it. Seriously doubt anything in this watch would rust any time soon, if ever.

Thanks a lot for feedback guys. Was looking to get stainless version, since titanium is out of my budget, but worried about rust (no. 1), and then gps

@kk2n-kk Make sure to get a nylon hook and loop band to go with it! There are plenty 22mm ones out there! You can thank me later 😊

It is going to be more comfortable than anything rubber, better fit for OHR, and will push the watch weight down to its titanium cousin.

@nickk sadly not many 24mm on the market.

@dmytro Yeah, it’s a shame Suunto dropped the ones they had. They were the best material, velcro, and the rest wise.

@kk2n-kk I have the black steel version too. I have had it for 6 months or so and no issues with it. No skin reactions either. The black is a nice looking watch.

So what are the benefits of having the titanium version? Apart from it being lighter that is.

@łukasz-szmigiel Lighter but supposedly hypoallergenic and it looks great.

@brad_olwin I don’t know. I feel like good ol’ steel is plenty hypoallergenic too, not too mention most of the skin contact is with the OHR sensor bump. But the looks, the looks…

                              @nickk Interesting…
I like the concept. Do you have pictures how they look on the S9P?
To me they all seem very bulky compared to the watch.

@surfboomerang You want to see how the nylon band would look like? Happy to oblige! I think they are fairly light and well integrated style and function wise, not to mention color.

(For those just browsing, also notice the adaptive brightness! That’s not Photoshop, the screen indeed lights up in a well lit room, looking pretty sharp.)

Also, to prove my point… Here’s your all black version slimmed to astonishing 50g (well, maybe it would be 51-52g… I just noticed part of nylon was off scale). You are welcome! 😁

Very nice. Doesn’t look bulky at all.

@brad_olwin 😆 Taking no credit here! Suunto really outdid themselves with this one. Truly incredible design!

I still don’t understand how they managed to cram all that goodness inside 11mm and 50g box and have the battery life they have. It’s like an object from outer space. Defies the laws of sports watches physics.

I don’t know for how much time you have that one, I had similar one from aliexpress for Fenix 6S and after one month usage it broke the plastic part.
Take care to no loose/damage your watch.
                                          Also it extended a lot.
But they are very good in improving confort (at least for me the S9P Ti doesn’t need it) and weight!

@andré-faria Had it for a month, since I got the watch. So far so good. Don’t really count on it to last long.

Plastic snapping might be indeed a $569 problem 😬 Sadly, life is full of them.
