Please add marathon sport mode
-
Dear Suunto SW-Team,
I ran my first marathon back in 2013 and used a great marathon sport mode with my Ambit 3 Peak.
When preparing for a marathon, I’m not able to configure a sport mode to see which time I can achieve (e.g. less than 4:00 h) when running 42,2 km. So I’m really missing something like this in my Suunto App (used with Suunto 9 actually).
Or is there any possibility to create a personalized sport mode to see the calculated end time according to the actual running speed when the overall distance is known?
Thank you very much in advance for considering this proposal or having a solution available already.
This request is also valid for a 10 km run or half-marathon…
Kind regards,
Oliver -
@irock81 I think you could use the Suunto+ function “Ghost runner”
Before starting the run, you set the both the target distance and the S+ Ghost runner.
See here how it works:

@irock81 with the datafields ETE/ETA you see the calculated running time/arrival time.
you just have to make a personalized sport mode and create a route of the marathon -
@stefanomorgan Thanks for the hint. When I do ad-hoc training, I do not create a route upfront typically. However, with proper planning, ETA option is a good idea!

@egika Thank you very much! I’ll try it at my next run. However, I was looking for a direct sport mode - so simple that I can start it, and run. But this might work as well.

@irock81 yep, S9 has no dedicated sport mode for marathon. The next one would ask for a half marathon for sure. And then one for a 10k run etc.
The more generic approach of using a target distance works for everyone. And if you are ready to run a marathon you sure have the extra seconds to make this setting.
Cheers!

Well let’s name it a Race Mode, and just select the distance .
I agree with you at the moment Ghostrunner is the best solution to calculate your ETA based on the selected Race pace .
