I see the benefits for having a smaller watch, too…
      …but: I want it BIIIG 😂
…similar with the skies… I feel I should go even wider than my 105… would it be good for pow?! absolutely! would it be good for the slopes? no way… that’s why I stay on that size 🙂
      everything within reason 👍

@bulkan Ah AH HA !!! for your info, with my wife we both went to eyes surgery 15 years ago to remove any glasses … and … we were super happy to not wear them anymore any glasses whilst skiing … the sole problem … now we have 12/10 on both eyes … but to see far … not to see from near …

Ok I know the next joke …

More seriously … the watch is perfect to read in perfect conditions … but in mountain or in refuge the conditions are never these ones … also when you are still asleep your vision is far from beign good 🙂

@freeheeler humm humm … I have some ZAG H105 and ZAG H95 … I can ski in powder the same manner … my daugther who was in competition for many many years is abel to ski perfectly in powder even with her slalom skis (which for me is creasy) … all is a question of technic 🙂
best compromise in the alps is 95 mm 🙂 bigger … you cannot ski super short turns on the slope, smaller it’s technical in the powder … 95 … perfect everywhere …

PS : I dream of a bigger watch … not for adding more complexity of more information, just to see it much easier …

            Hi

@egika, I have the solution for the antenna : the ambit 3, Spartan Trainer and S5 design : Screenshot_20220110-155011_Chrome.jpg
Unfortunately there’s still the black space between the screen and the bezel…
By the way, remember the outdoor model for the Spartan Trainer with the «minutes scale» to fill the black, perhaps not so useful but I love the idea :

@juanph surely a solution, but one that most people (including me) don’t want.

and it also depends what kind of bindings you ski… i don’t ski ordinary bindings, hence everything is more difficult in my life 😂

@isazi of course the outside antenna would be a huge step back after the design of the S9 peak, I should have had 😅 to the joke. And the minutes scale just a personal thought.

Me neither. I had an Ambit that was like that and it never fitted comfortably on my small boney wrist

Deviating a “little” 🙂 bit from suunto …
I have in fact 4 pairs of skis … don’t ask me my prefered I like them all for slight different reasons …
                        ZAG H 105 with Salomon S/lab shift
                        ZAG H 95 with Diamir Vipec 12
                        ZAG H 105 with PLUM
Atomic Drifter (95mm) with Dynafit speed radical …
Also the shoes is important … this year I bought some new ski shoes : K2 Mindbender 130 and I should say they are awesome, super easy to put, super comfortable, super precises …
All this to say … whilst I was thinking what could they still invent on skis ??? they made lot of progess on ski bindings and now with a sole set of equipement you can enjoy on the slopes as well as in ski touring … oK don’t ask me then why I have 4 ??? 🙂

😂 the valid amount of number for skis is the same as for bikes: n+1 😉
but I must confess that I prefer to have only one ski. I know how it works and even if I had another ski with a different shape, I am sure I will wish every now and then I had taken the other ski to the mountain… plus: skis aren’t cheap either 🙈

@egika whaouuu 112 Bakan … super large … my dream was these one from ZAG

but when I tested them … they are too rigid …
I discussed with the shaper as I leave not so far …

After all my tests, I conclude that there is an ideal width : 95 … and they are not “nto so bad everywhere” the H95 or the dreifter which now is renamed backland sized 95 are really super good everywhere !!!

and skis are super easy to damage, too. But I was quite lucky with that so far 👍
I am a bit heavier than the average Suunto athletes… I believe 95 does work for most situations for most athletes, but this is not valid for me unfortunately 😜

by the way, we have successfully changed the discussion topic to a nicer one 😀

@patrick-löffler Yeah, as freeheeler said one of the main reasons was to do with the size, it felt considerably smaller than the S9B so I’d definitely recommend that you try one on before you buy. As you can see in my review thread (link below) Polar annoyingly has some of distance numbers set really small and not in bold - so it is quite hard to read when you are running

S9B Vs Polar Grit X Pro

FWIW I also struggled with the buttons in the sense that pausing or ending a run use different buttons to Suunto! So I ended a few sessions accidentally and also thought I’d paused it when I had in fact pressed the lap button. Thought my brain would get used to the differences but it started to get annoying haha. I’m sure this wouldn’t be an issue if you haven’t been using Suunto watches for a long time

It does have a lot of things going for it - excellent battery life, solid GPS in deep forest or woodland (better than the S9B) and the app & web based platform were both very good. It also felt very comfortable on the wrist, Polar’s FKM strap is really nice 👍

@miniforklift Thank you very much. For the last half year I was on Garmin. But somehow I’m not a Garmin guy. I really can’t say exactly why. I would like to love Polar. The sleep tracking is the best. But somehow I get drawn back to Suunto. 🤦‍♂️

@patrick-löffler currently I am using a Vantage V2 and I have to say it is awesome.
The screen is smaller (compared to my S9B), but it is easier to read - for me.
When running you won’t feel the watch - it is way lighter than the S9B
