I got my Suunto 9 Peak on Thursday. On Saturday out of the blue the watchface went black, then showed the message “This is taking longer than expected. Thank you for your patience.” It showed a bar underneath indicating some progress. The bar however kept on getting full, then it started all over again. After a few hours I did a soft reset. Did not work. The same message did appear. After a few more hours I tried another soft reset. Same result. Now the message is on the screen for more than 12 hours.

The app does not recognize the watch anymore.

Do you have any ideas what I could do? Is there a way to just turn the watch off for a while without restarting it? It is not reacting to anything.

    THANK YOU!

@claudiah I’ll ask people if they know something also outside of this forum.

If you I would also contact support, just to be safe.

@claudiah wait for the response from @isazi, but if I remembered correctly one person on this forum experienced this before and let the watch run out of battery. After that the watch booted normally.

@surfboomerang Oh, thank you - that’s a good idea. It might also be the first time I don’t like the fact that this watch has such a great battery 🙂

@claudiah so that message should mean that there was some kind of error and the watch is reinstalling the firmware on its own to get back to a working state. It should fix itself in few hours and a reboot while there is not advised. If it didn’t fix itself for you, you need to contact support and send your watch to Suunto. Maybe something was wrong with the hardware of your watch.
