SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.19.42 January 27, 2022
-
@cosme-costa Camp OTA reporting in! Downloading…
-
@patrick-löffler it is measuring multiple times during the night when the watch is not moving. You get the maximum measured value displayed in the post-sleep summary and in SA daily metrics
-
Downloading and excited
-
@egika Oh. Only one data point gets reported?
-
Downloading the update for S9P.
-
@isazi Same here for S9B
-
@patrick-löffler yes. It turned out that more data points don’t give additional information. Basically it shows the measurement error of the sensor. So reporting the maximum value makes sense to me.
-
Update loading… can’t wait
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you have the zip file for S9B?
-
@resilient-runner not yet
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thanks for the info! It looks like the SW is again devolveped one step in the right direction.
I’m just curious, as a previous A2S, A3S, SSU and current S9P user, I’ve been following the functionality development closely. During this period, people, including myself, have continuously been requesting:
- Multiple (comparable) sensor support
- Structured Workout support
To me, these repeatedly requested functionalities seem to be manageble to implement in the current SW in the course of 6 years (SSU introduction with completely new SW structure). So why have these continuously been down-prioritized by suunto? I just don’t get it.
In addition there is of course other minor stuff like the lock button this one guy is continuously requesting. There is also the big stuff like NFC payment and ofline music control, that probably require completely new hardware (S7 successor / Garmin Epix competitor?)
I think that implementing frequently requested features could be critical to achieving increased sales, instead of implementing “nice to haves” like “overnight blood oxygen measurement”.
I’m obviously eager to understand why these frequently requested features aren’t implemented. I would love to see that the effort that the Suunto employees are putting into the nice products, eventually result in profitable sales rates.

If you happen to find a bug, please open a detailed post in the correct watch section of the forum, so it is easier to keep track to (and report).

@resilient-runner here you go: https://firmware.geo.movescount.com/production/Ibiza-fw_2.19.42.453-F.zip
-
@egika thank you!
-
@theo-lakerveld complex intervals are rumoured to come in march, so that’s one thing out of the way.
-
Great update suunto! And a lot of potential as well.
-
One thing I’m curious about: it seems wings for life and redbul xalps suunto plus have expired, how come? I think wings for life was a fun one.
-
@dmytro there was a contract in place between the organizers and Suunto that expired. Maybe will come back in the future (wings for life), while the x-alps app has been unbranded and renamed as “variometer”.
-
I wonder - how will the new ascent / descent algo work on S5? Will it show absurdities due to poor accuracy of GPS based altitude, or is it still being filtered?
