Latest Firmware Update Issues

Posted about this within the latest software update thread, but figured I’d make a standalone post regarding it.
The Suunto 9 Peak no longer detects that it is on your wrist following the latest update with the addition of the “wrist detection” feature, specifically if you have a tattoo in the area.
To be clear, the device worked 100% flawlessly leading up to the update, I even did a 1hr run this morning with it without issue. After I finished my run I saw there was a software update available. Following the software update I can only get a reading on my opposite arm (not tattooed).
When on my wrist that is tattooed and I try to get it to take a reading the light sensor turns off as soon as the watch is pressed against my wrist.
To double check this I snagged my wife’s 9 peak which had not been updated, worked fine on my wrist, we updated the software and it also does not work anymore.
This is not a hardware issue, this is 100% a software issue.
So my question is, can the firmware be rolled back to one that worked, will this actually be looked at and solved as an issue (given that I can’t seem to find many others that its effected) or should I just cut my losses and return the device, I luckily still have a few weeks left in my return window.

@chris-conway not sure a roll down is possible, and the watch updates automatically so it will update again if you downgrade the firmware

@isazi Great, thank you for the reply, I love the device but obviously this is a bit of a deal breaker. I could always just use a heart rate strap as opposed to the wrist, but I would miss out on the sleep and recovery metrics etc. which I’m not sure if I’m willing to do…
With any luck maybe it will be acknowledged prior to my return window.

Edit: oh and in case it matters the tattoo is quite light (very light grey) and I haven’t run into issues with any other devices (and I’ve tried the garmin fenix 6S, Tactix delta, 7s, Apple Watch series 7 and Whoop 3.0)

@chris-conway I have the same issue actually.
However , on my tattooed arm it didn’t get good readings.

@chris-conway Suunto is investigating the issue. Nothing more I can say, hope they find a way to have both off-wrist detection and make it work in corner cases like yours.

@isazi @isazi I have no tatoos ( just furry arms); however, since the last FW update I am experiencing issues that are similar to the one described here. I have holes of several hours in HR readings although I am wearing the watch the same way I have been doing since i purchased it; I have never had this issue prior to this SW updates.
Similarly, during activities ( even activities that do not involve flexing wrist) the watch stops reading HR.
It appears as if the watch has a lot of false positive in detecting when it is off-wrist. I have relatively skinny arms; hence it might have to do with my anatomy.
I tried soft and hard reset, with no luck. Just wondering if anyone has any further suggestion. The only solution I can think of is to downgrade to the previous FW version, of this is possible.

have the same problem since the update 2.20.28 and 2.20.30.

watch is tight to the wrist and i also have done a hard reset (because suunto support tells me to do that)… i also have my wrist with tattoo.
