Full titanium black
-
@markytarky
I think so, too… but if we can take S9B Ti as reference: yes it scratches, but it can take much more than I would expect -
@freeheeler more resistant to color peeling as normal black version you think?
-
@suzzlo I see it on the dutch website, maybe it’s per market.
-
@isazi ohh you are right, also in Spain, but it’s only for All Back and Moss Gray
-
I do not have preorder button. Anyone have option to preorder it? Basically preorder button redirect me to customisation page.
-
@krakra
I don’t know anything about the manufacturing process of Suunto watches.
But from the detailed pictures it looks like the titanium is anodized. There are different ways to anodize material and it can (!) reinforce the surface hardness.
Since to me it looks anodized and not coated, there’s nothing to peel off.edit: yes, pre-order button in my case leads to customization, too.

@isazi The all black full Titanium is also available here in Germany for 979.- € - S9 Peak (non Titanium) now discounted to 499.- €
-
@isazi
is it known in Vantaa that pre-order directs to customization “only”? -
@freeheeler is this finally the 1.4 display size version?
-
@mountainchris
unfortunately no… if it was my everlong requested S9P XL, I would have pre-ordered right at the moment when @isazi has posted the link -
@isazi wow! Yesterday I bought a 5 peak at Suunto.com today it costs 50€ less
-
@freeheeler probably not. They are asking why nobody preordering it
-
@jorgefd Contact support, I am sure they can work something out.
-
The preordering now works.
-
@isazi Now available in the US for $1099. That is expensive, right in line with Garmin:)
-
@brad_olwin
…a bit off-topic, but I see similar things happening with Pixel slowly but steady approaching the price tags of iphones -
@krakra Suunto confirmed the new titanium bracelet is DLC coated, which is far superior to the PVD coating on the current black model. It doesn’t specifically state that the watch itself is DLC, but I would assume it is or it wouldn’t match the bracelet exactly.
So yes, it should be far better than the normal black version as far as resistance to scratches / peeling. I have a few DLC coated knives that I’ve put through hell and haven’t scratched the finish yet… like all things though, you can get high and low quality DLC coatings as well.
Edit: provided the original is PVD, though I can’t find anything confirming that - just going by the complaints I’ve seen from people sayings its relatively easy to scratch, which wouldn’t be the case if it was DLC.
-
Want it! But I do not need the Ti metal strap. I hope black Ti also as custom option with silicone strap possible later…
-
@mountainchris
a silicone strap is already included in the packageedit: does anyone know anyone who has ordered a full titanium version?
-
@freeheeler nah, pixels were expensive from the first model on. I think they actually have gotten cheaper over the iterations. By the way, who needs a regular pixel, if one could wait for an ‘a’ model XD
