      Hi everyone,

      I posted this question on reddit and someone from the community suggested I ask it here.

      I’m trying to understand if there is something wrong with my Suunto 9 Peak, or if it’s normal for GPS mileage to vary between watch manufacturers.

      I’ve used a Coros Apex Pro (and so does my fiancee). I recently switched to a Sunnto 9 Peak and have been noticing that my fiancee’s mileage and my milage now differ quite a bit. For example, I just tested both watching on my morning walk with my dog. I wore the Suunto 9 Peak on my left wrist and the Coros on my right.

      When the Coros hit the 1 mile mark, my Suunto read 1.05 (as seen in this image

      The thing is, the longer the mileage, the more pronounced the gap becomes. When I finished the walk, my Coros was reading 1.16 miles and my Suunto 1.23. The gap grew to .07.

      Is this in the range of normalcy, or does it sound like the Suunto is “fluffing” the mileage disatnce?

      According to Strava’s map creator, the Coros is more accurate. It’s super frustrating because I prefer the look and feel of the Suunto, but knowing it’s potentially fluffing mileage has put me off from wearing it.

      So my question - Is a “slight” difference in calculating mileage expected between watch manufacturers, or does it sound like there is something wrong with my Suunto and I should send it in for repairs?

        @greenie0506 interesting that on your Coros you are looking at the 3D distance. Which sport are you using on your Suunto?

        Maybe you could also try to walk/run/bike/whatever some road for which you have an official measurement? As an example just yesterday I ran a half marathon with two S9P watches: one reports 21.24k and the other 21.23k. I find the distance measured pretty good.

          @isazi Thanks for your response!

          I was using the “Trail Run” mode on both watches. Good point with finding an exact measurement and comparing the two. I’ll try to do that next time.

          How does 3d distance differ from…well…what is the default 🙂

            @greenie0506 alright, then if they both are trail running also the S9P should be using the 3D distance (if am I not wrong).
