My experience is at the beginning steps count were way over counting, but with time it got better, I think some accelerometer profile is being updated. Especially got better after walking workouts 😉

      Same here.

The other day, I see some steps while I was lying down in the bed without moving…

@suzzlo Yes, everyday in the morning, I see that I have 200-400 steps done during sleep… Maybe I walk thrugh the night… but I don’t think so 😉

@oli_ver any activity tracking device counts steps even during sleep, I’ve had on Garmin as well average of 100-200 steps per night, same story with Fitbit and it is normal as you quite move during the night and accelerometer detects movement and counts as step.

Hi it’s a pedometer on your hand and not on your shoes…

            What did you expect?

No matter what watch/brand you try, will never give you right steps. Its nature of state of art from technology. But if i may, can i question for which propose you want to get absolute measurement of steps?

I’ve heard of that but I have to admit that my Trainer is quite accurate. When I wake up I sometimes have a couple of steps recorded but never that high.
                  Discrepancies calibration between units? 🤔

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos We expect a bit more accuracy, not real value…

To me the way the steps are presented, specially in the watch, is quite annoying. Even it’s so inaccurate, it’s so ”dominant”. For example if you want to see a summary of the day, you see the steps first, but you know already, there’s no value in that number. Okay, you can compare the days, but just staring at the absolute numbers has no point, imho.

although it seems, that there have already been adaptations, as it seems, that during walks/runs the steps are not too bad, this seems possible.

Just in case here is a comparison FYI … and it shows: nothing and nobody is perfect (is anybody surprised? 😉 )

using a Suunto Vertical & Suunto Wings; mostly running (AKA stomping around) and cycling mostly through the northern german "wilderness"

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos like suzzlo has written, I expect a bit more accuracy! Like the very very good accuracy of the 29 € pedometer from my daughter which she wears also on her wrist! 😉
And this should be possible on a watch for more than 400€…
