@Ultrawalker I’d bet on high end model.
Wouldn’t bet the same ; high model will have maps for sure, and the packaging leaks don’t show maps…
Garmin and Coros watches with maps also don’t show maps on the box. So lack of that doesn’t indicate anything if you ask me.

@Tieutieu we’ll see soon enough. I actually hope they’ll retain 22mm, since it’s much more popular strap width.
Based on the image I’ve seen I suspect it will have a 22mm strap.

Right! The package is “clean” and no other functions are named. So everything is possible…
I expect a high end model.

Fair enough ! But my packaging reference was the suunto’s only watch with maps so far AKA S7, which shows maps

Well, S7 packaging was showing heat maps as the watch face. Not quite the same as showing off in-training map capability.
-
@DMytro Also very fair enought !! Can’t wait anymore !! Please Suunto release our pain !!
-
@Tieutieu the new model (Vertical) will have maps. It’s all in the documents on this forum. From the leaked photos the strap seems 22mm. Some other tidbits are also available, if you look for them
-
Thanks all for building this topic, i’m still happy with my Ambit3 vertical, and more a small watch guy, but this topic makes me really happy anyway. I look forward to all the reviews!
-
The original Ambit3 Vertical introduced hardware changes (new GPS sensor, no antenna bump, vibration alerts), but the software was very similar to the existing Ambit3 watches. I can only speculate that this could be the case now as well. Does this mean no maps? Let’s wait and see…
On a side note, S9PP already introduced significant hardware and software changes, so hopefully, maps will be available in the new watch. This (other than the size) could be the major differentiator between the two watches. -
Anyone?

@freeheeler Good one

No one seems to talk about battery life of new watch. Hopefully battery lasts atleast as long as in S9PP. Better resolution screen and maps would be awesome. Is there new HR sensor? How about barometer? Is it similar to S9PP? So many questions and no answers, yet.
Also I’m waiting if there is something intresting coming to S9PP with FW update. After all it has new UI.
-
@Jugger Given that the new watch will be larger than S9PP, it does make sense that the battery life is going to be equal or better. On the other hand, the original Ambit3 Vertical had shorter battery life compared to Ambit3 Peak… So there’s that
-
@Jugger I’ve done some rough estimates of the battery life somewhere above. It was something like 30h with multiband and 50h with all-sat gps. Reasonable I think.
Probably it’ll be either the same hr sensor as in s9pp but tuned to this new watch or the newer sensor.
Barometer - isn’t the one in s9b/s9p/s9pp already quite good? It’d be interesting to see, where they put the hole tho.
It seems like the new watch comes with a new watchface and there were some rumours about the weather - I guess both should come to s9pp at some point. A more interesting question is that whether suunto will make their play on widgets with the reveal of this watch or whether they’ll come in some forseeable future (by widgets I essentially mean more customizability of the watchface). -
@DMytro Battery life seems ok then. About barometer I ment that S9PP can also measure under water. I think it’s also in new watch.
Weather watchface would be nice. I miss baro watchface from S9B. If there would be possibility to sync outside temperature to it, it would be perfect.
-
I just hope that new watch has all the capabilities of S9PP and more, not missing something out. Not counting weight/size, that is more personal preference…
-
Can’t wait to have a look at the new Suunto.
-
@Likarnik what I could imagine might be missing is snorkeling ready baro sensor and ambient light sensor.
-
I expect new OHR, so HRV can be measured… hopefully
-
@suzzlo can’t hrv be measured already?
