speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches

@Ultrawalker I’m ok with the size. I like it.
-
@Highlands if we really get a solar variant, maybe the “black bezel” is for solar charging --> bigger than the Garmin one --> more solar energy
-
@Ultrawalker if you have the photo, it’s actually quite easy to compute: measure the whole profile of the watch in pixels and measure the screen size in pixels. You know the length of the watch profile, so by a simple ratio you can obtain the screen size.
I’m too lazy to do this tho, but maybe someone will.

Let’s put the huge bezel nonsense to test: https://youtu.be/9xaidb98fDs?t=106
Therefore I think the new watch will hide it a bit better and/or introduce solar under it? (given the white line markings though, wouldn’t this affect solar?) -
@Hristijan-Petreski The size of the bezel doesn’t bother me at all as I’ve seen the pic. I’m more concerned about a rotating bezel. I hope it doesn’t rotate.

Just a kind reminder to you all
So the rule is: no leaks. No pictures, no names, no links, just discuss what you look for in a new watch, what you don’t want, what you expect.
-
@sartoric is it still a leak if the details are on a retailer’s page and ready to purchase?
-
well, to me it’s a leak if there is not yet an official announcement.
shops marketing strategies are devilish … “whooops, that page wasn’t supposed to be published till xx/xx, sorry”
-
@sartoric agreed and noted.
-
I wonder if OHR is gonna be any good because of similar weight as S9B…

One expectation we didn’t discussed yet, and important to me : hope this next watch to come will be “made in finland” and with the same sustainable concerns it was for the previous models (9pp espacialy).
Also hope it will be supported as long as my S9B has been so far !
I’m personnaly fully confident it will be ! -

Also : if maps are coming as it seems to be, I’d be glad if there was an option to enable/disable maps “on the flight”, to save battery. For instance while following a track, I’d like to choose to navigate with maps, or only with the track as it is today with S9 series, and having a shortcut to activate/disactivate them !
-
@Tieutieu I love that Suunto watches allow us to enable/disable various things during activity, and if they implement maps I hope they will do the same. I am with you in this, maps are useful navigating new terrain, but in places I know well they would just use more battery than necessary.
-
I’m excited to see the new model. Maps would be a great addition. Especially if you can turn it on and off.
My only hope is that Suunto does not go with the new trend: Features based on subscriptions.
-
If everybody’s expressing hopes regarding uncofirmed featuers, I ought to chime in: I hope suunto will do maps better than coros i.e. that the route is a part of the maps and going off-route would trigger automatic rerouting (turn on/off optionally).
-
@DMytro actually Coros triggers a deviation warning when you leave the route, but will NOT reroute you by itself. Where Coros ‘failed’ is that, their routing in their new beta app does not work offline (at least not yet).
