Battery drain
-
I have not done a full drain/charge cycle but so far not seeing any improvement in battery life. I do not use navigation regularly so this specific fix probably does not apply.
-
For me, the navigation battery drain seems fixed. Did a hike yesterday with routing and map.
Stopped the activity with 30% left and woke up this morning with 29% without a restart of the watch. -
36Hours since top up to 99% charge, 30minute stretching activity (got my self injured on the last training run before a race this weekend), with OHR 24/7 and we are down to 93%. For now I am still averaging around 3% to 4% per day. Tonight will be a light run just to test the hip injury before the race on Sunday… Lets hope the watch and the body are on par to get me off the startline and somehow to the finish
-
@SvenSchroeter Summing up my experiences (spoiler alert… no issues detected).
5Days have passed. Started with 99% and Today I am down to 74%.
- OHR 24/7
- O2 Sat Enabled
- Notifications ON - Buzzing every now and then
Activities Recorded:
- STRETCHING: OHR ONLY / no GPS : 61minutes
- RUN: HR BELT / GPS=Performance: 215 minutes
- BIKE: OHR / GPS=Performance: 25minutes
I expect around a 3week battery life which is pretty damn good considering what I think is relatively heavy use. Included was a running race of 30km, route was pre loaded, but i was not navigating it with prombts… rather simply following the route. I am not experiencing excessive drain for my use cases.

Fully charged mine yesterday from 0%
9% lost in 24 hours without any activity.

Yesterday I started my day with 100%, then had a one hour run (kind of a race with GPS/maps on) and today my battery still shows 98%. I am not sure if this is realistic, or some king of calibration is needed, but I will keep an eye on this.

There still exists an odd battery drain when NOT wearing the watch. I took mine off yesterday morning at 93% and it is now at 75% (18% loss in 24 hours). This is with the watch laying face down, so the OHR is not on.
I wrote about this same behavior earlier this year (somewhere way up this thread). At first I thought the drain was due to sleep tracking being enabled and the watch attempting to track sleep even though it is not on the wrist. However, this time I noticed a significant drain during the day as well.
It’s hard to imagine what the cause could be. I shouldn’t need to turn on or disable any features when taking the watch off. What could possibly be going on to cause such drain when not wearing it?
Edit: Another huge 24hr drain from 71-44% while the watch was off the wrist. I recorded a 1.5hr activity prior to this and saw an expected ~2% drop. My Vertical is on track to last less than four days while sitting face down on the counter. Anyone else seeing significant battery drain when not wearing the watch?
-
@duffman19 I agree! I see more drain with it “resting” face down on the night stand than any activity I do.

everything like when i purchased it at launchtoday’s stats :
Charged from 0% to 100% on Oct 6th.
Today : 22% left --> 78% lost in total in 12 days
17% battery lost in 9h36 of GPS activity
So 61% lost for 12 days, non include GPS activity (avg = 5% / day)
. -
After full charging oct. 7 I started with 100%
today I am at 67% after 11 days with about 5 hours of running activity with hr belt and ZoneSense app…
I think this is not bad, and perhaps only a little bit worse than before the summer update… -

.Ready for today’s activity, and my battery is just 14% now. So 8% lost since yesterday at the level of %.
It will be enough for today -
@Mff73 this is really too much 🥲

Yes, 14% is too much battery for my activity of today .
For non activity drain, I will keep zen, waiting for next fix. -
Hi everybody !
Just send my drain watch for this week.
Started last Sunday with 89%.
Today 30% of charge.
Activities: 2 run for a total of 1h30 and 1 nordic walk of 2h.
HR ON
Sleep OFF

Performance Mode activate during activities
No wipe since the last updateThat seems to me too much draining batterie.
For me, this is not due to activities but only when the watch is on my wrist and overtime not wearing and face down.My feelings since I’ve bought this watch are degraded because the watch was more efficient when I started use it last year.
Every updates downgrade the efficience of this product.
That’s a pity… -
Odd one - idle Vertical screen showing this:
Watch placed on surface while still displaying the just-saved-activity screen. Left untouched for 15 mins or so. Returned to normal “Data” watchface with time resumed & more plausible step count when picked up.
This might be a bug but it involves unusual power use so I’m putting it here. FW 2.37.48.
Anyone else seen the same?
-
@Fenr1r I also already noticed that incomplete display 1 or 2 times. It doesn’t really bother me as everything is back to normal after pushing one button. It is just a small display bug.
I would prefer Suunto to keep working on serious issues (battery drain for people still impacted, …).Here is my feedback after latest update:
- no more battery drain after hiking activity with route navigation. Good job Suunto
I only tested with one little hike around my place and I still have to check in real life hikes in the coming weeks - I have charged my watch to 100% few days ago and I keep an eye on battery consumption, but I didn’t notice abnormal battery drain these last days.

Yes totally agree — but the most thread here is "what Sports mode is missing for the next Update 🥴 they should solve real Problems. I have lost all maps on the watch while record a walking Activity. And had very strange Display error while switch the Suunto+ App while i was Walking. Watch completely down and automatically Reboot.

I think this has been explained a couple of times…this is a community forum. Not an official Suunto wishlist forum
Everything can be discussed here, but Suunto decides if, when and how it will be implemented. -
Hello forum,
iam new here due to the battery drain problem.
Due to a updating error of myself (did not plan to update to latest firmware soon) , i have now 2.37.48 on my watch…My intention is to let you guys know how big the impact on my usage of the watch is.
Before the upgrade with 2.33.16 it was easy possible to reach 4-5 weeks without charging with my usecase:HR ON
Sleeptracking ON
SPO2 ON
Notifications OFF
Airplanemode ON
evertime with GPS Performance and routenavigation
10 hours training per weekNow with the latest software my watch uses 4,3% power every day and if that holds on, the battery is in 23day empty.
I will now full cycle the watch and report again by time.
But for me its clearly a sign that something strange is going on here and Suunto has to adress this problem carefully.Iam very happy with the Vertical since 6 month but the decrease in batterypower sucks a little bit.
Hope Sunnto can fix this soon
