Here is my feedback after first complet battery cycle :
@Tieutieu said in Suunto Vertical is here:

@isazi said in Suunto Vertical is here:

@Tieutieu it does not change battery mode without telling you. Only at 1% it will go to power saving mode on its own.

Actually it switched to power saving mode tonight when 2% where remaining.

I finally succeded to drain battery to 0% !
Here are the final results of my first whole battery cycle (I had a “small” one before a big race).

Last full charge 13 days ago.
H24 HR and sleep tracking on, no notifications, turn to raise to low. Backlight to low.
39,50 hours of activities with GPS to best for all, maps almost always on. Few apps used. Few sun received (my skin commands me to seek for shadow…).
Activities : Trail running, hikking, climbing, cycling and moutainbiking, cardio-training…achieved around 300km, 10000meters D+ in various and demanding terrain.

        • I estimate daily consumption to 1,5% to 2% max. So around 20/25% for 13 days. That means almost 40hours of activities for about 80/75% battery used in exercice.
        • Even if I mostly use chest strap, the OHR battery consumption is very low compare to my S9B. Almost same consumption as with chest strap.

Perhaps few people haven’t set properly the watch or may use functions combinations that lead to bugs or extra battery consumption…
But my point of view is that this is a really fu**** awesome device for all my adventures !!

@Tieutieu agree! Pretty good battery life after a week and 20 hours of training, everything on except backlight get 55% battery life still and according the watch 35h of gps to go.

Except map which might be slugish at start of using a region every thing is fine.

Suunto has done a terrific job.

PS: to do not damage battery cell, my watch is recharged when it reach 40/30% battery level.

@Tieutieu The only thing that causes high battery drain in my case is using S+ apps. With 2 S+ apps enabled battery drain increases by 400 - 500%.

I finally managed to calibrate the SV battery; drain it to zero, recharge it to 100% and then did a soft boot. Now the solar charge won’t do anything. The charging circle won’t lit all the way, only the lightning icon in the center lights up. The bars remain in the minimum as well. I guess that’s how it should be, right? Turning off the solar charge and all indicators when the battery is full?

@BrunoH I just charged my watch for the first time since Suunto started shipping the watches. (Holy sh*t Suunto. Impressive! 😮 )

My watch only charged to 99%, even after a soft reset. I tested the solar charge icon and it lit not only the flash icon but also the first ring. The sun is very low now so that could also be the case.

When first time i did battery calibration my battery can reach 100%.
Yesterday is my second time charge the battery. I waited for 45 mins but still showing 99% then i stop charging it. So stop at 99% i guess it’s normal to prevent overcharge?

My vertical is currently at 32%, I charged it the first of June if I remember correctly and used the GPS a lot. I think tomorrow will be a good day to charge it (also need to download some maps before the holidays).

Charged mine 13 days ago, achieved 22 hours of activities with GPS to best, HR and sleep tracking H24 ON. Still 35% battery remaining. So I have the same excellent performances I had with the first cycle of charge : => around 20% battery for daily use (1,5%/day). That makes around 45% battery used for those 22hours of activites.

                      Didn’t notice any calibration impact

This is really funny: After coming home from a 25k-run yesterday (starting with 7%, ending with 4%), the Vertical went in a power saving mode at 2% in the evening.

Waking up this morning i had 1% left.

At lunch time i walked 3 kilometers and now i’ve got 0% since 2,5 hours. This watch will not capitulate! 😀

Is for the SV also 50% still the minimum charge?

@Tieutieu only train with chest strap not with OHR. I got 55h of Training with 1 charge

After two weeks with SV and being worried about battery drain, I think I’ve found my battery destroyer.
                              Notifications (Teams, emails, whatsapp, calls…).

When deactivating them, I see that the battery consumes according to what Suunto promises.

It will not be possible to review this to improve it.

Before the Update, battery consumption was ok. After the Update, the Akku Drain was extreme.

                                Soft Reset -> Same Problem.
                                Backlight is off 🥺

If you haven’t already, you may need to recalibrate the battery. Drain it all the way to 0%, then charge all the way back to 100%

We noted this problem in the 9PP after the update also.

I never heard that it is necessary to calibrate the battery… last time I have read that it is not good for a lithium accu to drain to zero… I‘m really confused!!!

@SuperFlo75 I completely agree with you. I’ve never “had” to recalibrate the battery, or get such battery drain behavior on any of my tech after an update. This was suggested to me in the 9PP thread and appears to have solved the same issue I was having.
