I got a Solar Vertical recently and I really like it so far. The design and build quality are excellent, and I think the band design is awesome. The UI is ok, but coming from a Garmin Tactix 7, I feel like there could be some welcome updates and changes. I have a couple questions/inputs for future software updates.

-Is there any talk of being able to assign hotkey functions to the side buttons (double-press/long-press maybe) for quick actions like flashlight, timer, etc?

-I’d like to see the bottom menu (when you swipe up/press the bottom button) become customizable. If we could move the locations of certain items we use most like airplane mode, etc. to the top of the list, it would make doing certain things much easier.

-One thing I really enjoy about Garmin watches is being able to narrow down watch notifications to calls only, texts only, or calls and texts only. I don’t need to see Instagram notifications, doorbell camera notifications, etc., on my watch. It would be a very welcome addition to see this in future software updates.

-Dark mode for the iOS version of the Suunto App would be nice. White can be very jarring at night.

Overall, I think the Vertical is an incredible watch, and I look forward to what the future holds for it. Amazing job thus far, Suunto!

@JonnyKarate you can select which notifications you want to keep within Suunto App. Click on watch above right and scroll down to notifications

@v-sacre I’m not seeing what you’re talking about at all. There isn’t a notification setting other than the bell icon top right in the main home screen. Am I missing something? I’m on iOS by the way.

@JonnyKarate on iOS I set notifications over iOS settings (which are then mirrored to Suunto). For most apps I don’t have notifications turned on, only ‚counters‘ (red numbers) of messages so I see theres something new, but I don’t get notifies on the phone and not on the watch either.

@JonnyKarate I am on Android. Strange. I manage the keep only text and call, all others notifications are disabled from the watch.

@ChrisA yeah, I know I can set up the notifications within iOS settings, but I don’t mind them on my phone. The watch can get irritating sometimes when it vibrates on your wrist a lot. I just want calls and texts on my watch for the most part.

@v-sacre It seems like iOS could use some love when it comes to setting the notifications up, but maybe it’s one of those things that’s “up to Apple”. We don’t get preset text responses either, but I’m not one of those people that really uses my watch to respond to texts anyway.

@ChrisA it would be pretty nice to do. That and a dark theme. Hopefully some changes are coming down the pipe. I really am loving this watch so far, but a couple of small tweaks would be welcome.

@JonnyKarate i bought my first Suunto two and a half years ago and since then Suunto has delivered so many new features, hardwarewise but also in the app, that I am quite sure, there‘s a lot to come 😃 I tried other products (lots of 😅) but always came back to Suunto

@ChrisA that’s great to hear. I have had a few Garmin watches and they’re fairly good about user feedback as well. If we could get a few new ease-of-use features, I think this will be a perfect fit for me. I liked my Tactix 7 a lot, but it was honestly just too large and clunky. Aesthetically the Vertical is just 👌 👌 👌 . I love it.
