Software Firmware Update Suunto Vertical?!
-
@cosme-costa disclaimer, I’m not nick , lol even with the K in my name.
Which one Suunto will prefer? Customer shout so they know and fix the issue (which is what happen in Garmin forum) or customer never shout, and just quietly drop the Suunto ? (Which is exactly what happens here, because not many ex Sg Suunto customer know the existence of the forum)

Kk2n-Kk Come on, what do you expect, that a private company tell you the root cause of their bugs before they are solved or even iafter they are solved? You haven’t seen this in any company and IMHO is quite logical.
Where I work we do not tell our customers which are the bugs of the machines or how to solve them as you can imagine.I do not have a SV (I plan to get one for my birthday in some long months) but I am in the Spanish telegram forum where you can get around 250/300 messages per day and I think I only have seen one or two people complaing about restarts that where solved with hard resets.
So I think that restarts happens to few users, not the vast majority. Where I live we have a saying: one time is bad luck, two times is coincidence and 3 times is the KGB (for the joungsters KGB is the CIA from URSS), jocks aside what I mean is that you can get a faulty device, but if with the second one you have the same issues and other people don’t probably you have something that triggers it and as you have been told Suunto has found it. Because I guess your friend has asked for a replacement, hasn’t he?
Welcome to Suunto community

@cosme-costa I’ve been in software industry for 30 years.
No ofense here but this tells me nothing if you don’t tell me where you work. I work for one of the biggest companies in our sector in the service department and I know pretty well how this works, I’m pretty sure that if suunto hasn’t issued the hotfix yet is because thay couldn’t find/fix it before and because their processes doesn’t let them (with the good and the bad)
-
@zhang965 I’m already a senior memeber
-
@Kk2n-Kk You must be in a tough country/place of work if people get fired so easily for ‘creating bugs’ in software, or not fusing them in minutes!! If this were true, there must be huge turnover of staff constantly at Garmin, Coros, Polar, Microsoft, Hammerhead, Strava, Wahoo, Apple, Samsung, Oura, Fitbit…
Harsh. I’ll make sure to steer my kids away from being software developers!
-
@mikekoski490 to be frank, I do advise my kids not to follow my footsteps. Yes it is harsh world in software industry here and I believe same case in coros main rnd in china.

Should I go to Garmin forums and shout there?
I wasn’t aware I was shouting, was I?
That’s how bringing up valid criticism substantiated by hard evidence is referred to in these places now? See no evil, speak no evil? Toe the party line? Everything is awesome?
OK, Tovarish Kommissar! I made a mistake. Please don’t take away my party membership and food stamps
-
@NickK I just think you and the other software developer on here who doesn’t have a Vertical and works at a terrible place where they fire software developers all the time have moved well on from helpful constructive criticism and sending issue logs to the volunteers, to posting things like ‘Suunto is dead’, and longer than required posts over and over again about how unhappy you are.
Your volume and repetitive posts, content and tone are kinda negative, that’s all.
I get it. Both of you are unhappy with your Suunto, and your friends Suunto who you feel the need to speak for but glad he could return it before some fatality ensued. You have reported your dismay. Let’s move on.
-
@mikekoski490 To be fair to nick, I believe he has or had 2 or 3 verticals
-
@Kk2n-Kk Anecdotally…
Honestly though, if I went through 3 Verticals in a month and all of them were bad, which is super bad luck statistically but not the norm based on a lot of us with few to no issues, I would pissed off too, say my peace here, and move on.
I certainly would not repeat post here.
Also wouldn’t repeat post if I didn’t even have a Suunto Vertical.
-
@Kk2n-Kk Do you have watch that restarts? I really don’t understand your posts… You just moaning about something you didn’t experience… There are so many people on this forum that USE Suunto Vertical almost every day with zero reboots. I must say that your posts start to be a little annoying.
And yes, if somebody don’t want to sell Suunto in your country that really mean nothing about the product. -
@nseslija yes I experienced and your point is? Everyone must say no evil, hear no evil? In that case, good luck guys. Remember Nokia. Ironically also from Finland. And yes, it Does say something about the product if nobody want to buy it.
@NickK you’re right. It’s hopeless .
-
@Kk2n-Kk Thank you!! Bye!
-
This discussion is really boring and annoying now… shouting out having an issue with a product you own is normal I think! But shouting out about issues with a product you heardt about and repeating it on and on? Incomprehensible!
Perhaps it‘s possible to close this thread? -
@SuperFlo75 I agree. OP simply asked when the firmware update is going to be.
-
@mikekoski490 when will the Update roll out?
-
@GiPFELKiND Isazi posted hopefully next week.

@GiPFELKiND, you already asked several times, @isazi already aswered. I guess you just have to be a little patient.
-
@Tieutieu I ‘think’ @GiPFELKiND was just trying to re-frame the conversation back to his original post question after the tons of off topic rhetoric.
