OHR values on climbs
-
I have a problem with the watch and the OHR sensor on climbs (trail activity).
The OHR sensor works well during the day, when I am not using it in some activity. It also behaves well when I run on flat ground or do some lighter activity (eg hiking).But when I’m doing a more difficult activity with climbs (like trail running), my heart rate measures are way too low. It shows ok values while i run on flat ground and on descents, but when I get to steep climb, the watch shows me values that are much too low. For example they show me that my heart rate is between 80-100, and it is more realistic that it is around 170-180.
What could be the problem? I tried wearing it on different parts of my arm, tried to squeeze the strap tighter and but every time I start a steep climb, the watch shows a much too low heart rate.

Yes mine does the same are you pushing with your hands on your legs hard when climbing?
I do this for my vertical kilometre hill and I think this really stuffs with it the same as weight lifting the bending of wrist not good. Mine seemed to read better on descent as well.

@gone-troppo
Sometimes i push with hands, but not all the time.Considering that I mostly run trail courses that vary from descents, flat sections and fierce climbs, currently the values from the OHR do not show me the real values at all. On the sections where I struggle the most and where my HR values should be at peak, it tells me that I am in the weakest HR zone.
Also, this does not happen for few meters, but whole climb.Do you think this will get fixed? I did not have this problem with my last watch (Garmin). I will also try climbs with different activity type to see if it acts differently.

@markeczzz interesting observation.
Do you have an idea what could be different for the watch when you are climbing?
The watch is basically trying detect the capillary blood flow.
Bad measurements could come from a too tight strap (blood flow interrupted), a to loose strap (watch shaking and thus variation in the optical path), cold temperatures (capillaries have less blood), using poles (introducing rythmic vibrations of the watch), tatoos, etc.What parameter (within arm/watch) are changing when you climb? Maybe you can observe anything?
