Sensors full of Bubbles, Plastic peels off.

@GiPFELKiND
My S9PP failed completely when charging. Before sending it to Suunto I examined it carefully and there were very small bubbles near one of the charging connectors. Serial number beginning 2249, so a little earlier than those you listed.
I don’t know if that was related to the failure - because after 3 weeks with Suunto all they’ve managed to do is email me to say it will be even longer than the 4 weeks originally quoted (which itself was unacceptably long) - stating the reason as the large number of broken/faulty watches they are receiving.
I’m not sure why Suunto thinks it’s acceptable to leave a customer without a watch for more than a month, little more than 6 months after paying more than £500 for it. But, after 5 Suunto watches, I doubt I’ll buy another after my experience with the Peak Pro. -
@GiPFELKiND The “faulty production batch” idea could be valid if my replacement sensor (warrantied during august, 5 months after I bought the watch) was’nt also affected.
I had to use sunscreen late augustr, maybe that’s what affected it, but if yes its such a shammmmmmmmmmmeeeee -
I don’t think it’s a batch issue but a cheap plastic foil issue.

Same problem here. Just bought the watch 2 months ago (to replace a non-functional S5P by the way…). So now it’s clearly not an isolated issue…(a lot of S9PP & Vertical seem affected when reading the forum!)
See photo attached: Numerous little (for now) bubbles of variable size, emerging from the back of the watch… I am worried that some of them may finally affect the sensors! This is unacceptable for a watch at this price to use such low quality materials !!
I precise that I did not use any sunscreen, hand lotion, or soap (I remove the watch when I go to shower), and I don’t swim with it (just running with some sweat production of course!). After every run I lightly wipe it with a microfibre towel.
What can we do? Even if Suunto replaces it and after reading all the comments, I am quite sure we’ll have the same issue with a new watch. Does someone from Suunto could answer?
I also think this is my last Suunto device…
-
@vincent-mayousse
no one from Suunto will answer as this is not the channel to get in touch eith Suunto directly.
I have different Suunto models that I use frequently at home and they do not have any quality issues.
Please get in touch with Suunto as long as you’re covered with warranty.
I don’t expect you’ll have issues with your repaired device -
@freeheeler thanks for your answer but I am quite sure we’ll face the same issue again!
See the experiences of some users on this forum: After returning their watches and had the sensor/back of the watch changed (of even a new watch!), bubbles developed again a couple of weeks later!As long as Suunto does not change its material/cheap plastic to cover the back of their watches, we’ll have the same problem again.
So this is why an “official” communication from Suunto, regarding the importance of this issue and the number of users affected, would be appreciable ! -
@vincent-mayousse
ok, but you don’t know when you don’t try -
I’ve been using my Vertical 24/7 from the end of May. I wash it with liquid soap every evening and it has been in contact with sunscreen many times but have no bubbles. Sunscreen is made for kids so no parfume in it. I don’t know if it has anything to do with peeling. Serial starts with 2315. Just wanted to share my experience so far.
-
@Jugger Serial # 2318 here. Also no bubbles or peeling.
-
@surfboomerang #2319 S9PP fine too… just get it replaced under warranty and life happily ever after ;).
-
@surfboomerang are you having Shower, or bath with watch on you wrist?

#2318 also. Everything’s fine with my SV. I wear it h24 since last may, including for swimming in the sea or swimming pool. I frequently keep it under shower to wash it. Also Went to a spa and sauna with it. No issue.
Same for my wife’s S9pp, no issue. -
@Tieutieu
same here, all good with our watches. we use sunscreen, pool swimming, activities in the ocean, sweat, shower etc… -
and with my SV #2319 everything was fine until I went to sea after 3 months of use) now it reboots cyclically. But there are no bubbles.
-
@Tieutieu : Which serial number for your wife’s S9PP?
@ freeheeler: Yes in the end I will send it to repair/replacement of course, but I am thinking that the longer I wait, the better are the chances that they eradicated the problem on production chains…
-
@twekkel : When did you purchase your S9PP ?
-
@vincent-mayousse almost 3 months back

I’ve noticed this thread and took off my watch to check how it looks, and I’ve noticed this. Many micro bubbles, thats normal or should I worried? Its brand new Suunto watch that i bought 7 september 2023. Should I be worried?
! .

@Tami999 : Totally abnormal…
See all cases described above in this forum. Many watches affected by the same problem.
