It should be possible to lengthen the kilometers of the trail of breadcrumbs.

Yeah, besides the sync issue (https://forum.suunto.com/topic/10512/unable-to-connect-sync-vertical-with-suunto-app-since-last-update/174) which is hopefully fixed soon the breadcrumb issue (https://forum.suunto.com/topic/10325/uncomplete-track-during-activity/54) imho is the most urgent one (considering vertical to be a mountaineering watch). šŸ‘

So many issues concerning even the basic functionality of the watch, hmmm… let’s see and hope for the best.

It seems that I successfully managed to update on 2.33.14.

My watch shows 2.33.14 as current status of firmware. Sync seems to works now. For the moment it’s good to see that vertical seems to be back in the game šŸ‘šŸ‘

I think @GiPFELKiND is not referring to the success of installing the update on his watch, rather a comment about the content šŸ˜‰
I have picked up this is a hotfix, not a planned update.

But, I have a question. Are there people on the Suunto team who actually read all our requests, ideas or bugs? It’s just curiosity.

Because if not, what good are all our ideas and requests here?

                    Bug fixes and stability improvements.

                    I would only add:

                    • enable touchscreen on altitude profile display when navigating a route to be able to switch between remaining ascent / descent (even if you only enabled touchscreen for map only). I suggest to modify touch screen option like this: map & altitude profile display only / enabled / disabled. An other option would be to automaticaly enable touchscreen when altitude profile is displayed (when navigating a route).
                    • add remaining ascent / descent to the list of data we can select in custom sport mode

                      yes and no.
yes, because what we post here finds its way to the developer team.
and no, to destroy the dream of having the forum as a to-do list for the developer team.

it’s neither up to us nor the developers to define what will be implemented. it’s strategic, as with every other product in the world.

I think surveys have more weight for customers as they generate a good picture that can be analysed properly.
again, that’s not Suunto insights, it is not a secret that this is applicable for any product

Currently, Lap is useless for most activities.
So in reality we only have 2 buttons — this is definitely not enough in this type of watch (Garmin has 5 of them for a reason).
Ideally, it would be possible to pin a screen/widget or some function to this button.

I use the lap button in most of my activities, I do not find it useless.

                          1. Most of my trail runs are S+ Guides from TrainingPeaks with a variable warm up and cool down requiring a lap button to advance
                          2. During SkiMo lap button measures uphill time, transition time, and downhill time to get stats for these.
                          3. With no structured intervals I use the lap to hit summits of hills I run often to see if I am improving over a season on uphill and downhill speed.

Not at all useless for me.

@Brad_Olwin In fact, apart from various types of running/racing, this is still not a very useful function for other people.

Let me just remind you that Suunto watches have several dozen sports modes, and all the software is made only for runners, without any possibility of changes. Lap button, autopause, too sensitive altimeter and so on.

I use the watch extensively for SkiMo and for biking as well as hiking and mountaineering. I use the lap button for those as well. For these sports I get the data I need, does not seem to be made only for running.
No changes to software? I use custom sport modes for most of my exercises and different S+ apps, not the stock modes, providing me with what I want to see. Guess I do not understand what no possibility of changes are…
Autopause is too sensitive for any watch I have worn/tested, that includes and Apple Watch Ultra and Garmin Epix 2.
My altimeter on Vertical, Race and 9PP is spot on, the only time I have issues is when winds are very, very strong. Strong enough to slow or stop forward progress. The Epix 2 had the same issue with strong winds and altimeter but the AWUltra seemed better. I can provide the data if you wish.

@Brad_Olwin I would like to have 3 useful keys. The competition has 5. Read the title of this thread. It’s like a wish list (not yours, but other users’). The lap button is 99% useless to me and that’s why I would like to have the OPTION to change what this key does someday. Don’t worry, without taking your toys, I’m still writing about the change option - the same in the case of autopause settings and others.

And the fact that the competition has similar problems is a poor excuse. They are doing much better on the market and can afford to make some mistakes. Suunto is far behind and is constantly losing, especially with the number of errors and omissions in the software.

@Zdeněk-HruÅ”ka Market position does not determine my choice of equipment.
Until it becomes a niche with no chance of development or the manufacturer starts ignoring its customers.
Unfortunately, Suunto is getting dangerously close to this.

@maszop Ok, understood. Far behind from the financial standpoint. But you know they don’t do mistakes on purpose. The watch gets better with every update at least in my opinion. Of course there are issues right now but I believe that they will sort it out. A better communication from the company side would be beneficial and much appreciated I guess. But other than that I have been very satisfied with S9PP and Vertical.

@Zdeněk-HruÅ”ka I have been a Suunto customer for some time and I feel that they always have supported their products well. For me a big deciding factor is the fact that they both bug fix and feature update legacy products as long as the hardware supports it. That to me is a standout company.

The irksome bugs get ironed out, the products improve. Is it always quick? Not always but I know it is done with intention.

You and I are each one person. Stated by you ā€œCurrently, Lap is useless for most activities.ā€ You did not say useless for me or for my activities. I am simply responding to a blanket statement you made, which I disagree with. Similarly for the altimeter, a blanket statement with no detail, I would rather be constructive as opposed to making blanket statements that do no one any good.
I do agree that there are issues, I think the wind effect on the altimeter is a major issue for me. The mountains where I live are often windy, very, very windy. So this affects me personally and I know from the forum one or two others. But it is not likely a general problem. So my response is not to say the altimeter is crap but to provide specific and constructive feedback that it records wind effects even on newer watches where the placement of the sensor holes is supposedly preventing this (it was much worse on the 9 baro). Since I test for Suunto I report these issues and sent in a bug report for wind affected altitude readings on three watches I was wearing at the same time.
I won’t comment again on the tone of your responses but I don’t find most of them constructive. I also find it personally offensive when you tell me to read the title of the thread or chide me about my toys. You do not know me nor do you know anything about me even if you think you do.

I will say I don’t run (unless I am being chased) and I use the software for various activities that I do. Mountain biking? yes. Hiking? Yes. Boxing? Yes. Rowing? yes.

I asked the forums on how to get my Vertical to work with my activities that I do; chances are there is someone else that knows. Many users showed me a way to look at it differently and have been more than helpful.

I would strongly suggest not to throw out blanket statements of frustration as that is kind of a rule of life, ask but be polite.
